trade performace issue on euro account

    Hi support team,

    Broker FXCM,
    base currency EUR,
no USD balance allowed on account (it is single currency),

The problem is that the trades on trade performace seem to be converted to USD. Only the currency sign is correct. See pic below :

The last table are the actual trades from FXCM. The middle one is the account tab from NT8, it is ok, the first table are those from trade performance.

I've changed the account currency to EUR, repaired and reset the DB but no luck.

    Any suggestions ?

    Hello as002,

Thank you very much for your post.

Please note: As the screenshot contained your account number, we removed it to ensure this number is not made public.

I have re-uploaded your screenshot and blurred the sensitive information out:

The "3.44" value you see in the Accounts tab is directly supplied by your brokerage and is not supplied with a currency associated.

In short; the value on the Accounts tab is directly supplied by FXCM as a plain-text number (e.g. "3.44"). The currency symbol is then added, based on how this account is set up (right-click > Edit Account > Change currency)

This means that even if you change the currency symbol to something with a very different conversion, e.g. Japanese Yen, it would still show a profit of 3.44 Japanese Yen, as NinjaTrader does not know which currency this value is supplied in.

The way NinjaTrader calculates the trade performance internally, however, differs and is solely based on how the instrument is set up.

Taking the first order as an example in this case:

Entry at 13571.63 - exit at 13552.17 results in a 19.46 point loss.

As per the instrument setup, the point value is $0.1:

This would then directly translate to a profit of 1.946 USD per position. For two positions this would then result in the $3.89 loss you see above. As this instrument reports the value in US Dollars, however, it would not automatically convert this to Euros, which then causes the dollar value to appear with a Euro symbol.

As the Trade Performance is always calculated on the platform directly, and the point value for this instrument is in US Dollars, the platform would not be able to convert this to a Euro-based value on its own.

I hope this explains where these values originate and why this offset occurs with FXCM-reported profit and loss.

Should you have any further questions in this regard, please don't hesitate to let me know!
