Error in XML Document

    Error in XML Document

    An error suddenly showed up when I start NT8.
    In the Log Tab:
    Catagory: Default
    Message: Strategy '173012457'. unable to deserialize user data: Thers is an error in XML Document (84,4).

    We will need some additional information in order to further investigate this error with you. Please send me your database, log, and trace files so that I may look into what occurred.

    You can do this by going to the Control Center-> Help-> Email Support

    Expand 'Other files' and enable 'Database file'.

    Please include a link to this forum post and reference the following ticket number in the body of the email: 3146870 ATTN Emily


    Additionally, I understand this occurred upon starting up the platform. If you close and restart NinjaTrader, does the message still come up? Are there any steps you are taking in particular in order to reproduce this error message?

      Yes. I even rebooted machine and the error msg shows up in the log tab.

      Are there any steps you are taking in particular in order to reproduce this error message?
      None. I just start NT like I always have.

      Please send me your database, log, and trace files so that I may look into what occurred. Expand 'Other files' and enable 'Database file'.
      The NT8 Backup File is about 12 Gigs. I have about 4-5K Symbols for Stocks and ETF's ....... Plus years of ES Tick data.
      Do you really need that? I am fairly technical and play way outside of the "Supported Sandbox" when developing Indicators, Profiles and Drawing Tools, so if the error msg is pointing to something in an XML file I can go in and edit it.


      I do not trade using the Strategy. The only time Strategy is used is for back testing. Everything appears to working normally. I am making Sim Trades on the MES today just to make sure it works. All Indicators appear to be working fine.

        Thanks for your reply.


        The process I have described involves using a function of the platform that will automatically zip and attach your log and trace files, as well as only your database file (Documents\NinjaTrader 8\db\NinjaTrader.sdf). This will not include the full backup file nor the historical data saved for the various instruments you have loaded. Please also include the .XML file for the ATM strategy mentioned in the error. The file should be located in the following directory, and I have included screenshots demonstrating how you may include this attachment with the Email Support request:

        C:\Users\<username>\Documents\NinjaTrader 8\templates\AtmStrategy\173012457.xml

        We are requesting these files so we may further investigate and test on our end. I would like to see if I am able to replicate this error before completing any further steps in the troubleshooting process. I sincerely appreciate your patience.
