    LMAX (Forex) on NT8?

    Hi,

    EDIT:

    Found it: https://ninjatrader.com/support/help...ta_manager.htm

If no LMAX, how come this?

    Hello Cormick,

Thank you very much for your reply.

The website you mention is not a NinjaTrader Vendor and they are in violation of our terms of service.

As a result, any and all items related to the website you mention are not supported. I hope for your understanding.

      Hi Manfred,

      Thanks for the answer.

My question was about how come it is possible for this 'vendor' to do it while not NT8?
Why don't you provide the connection if this 'vendor' is able to?

Also can you refer the terms of service? To check what's the official written conditions.

        Hello Cormick,

Thank you very much for your reply.

There can be a variety of reasons why a provider is not (yet) supported. The most common (and usually time-intensive) is the process of bug-testing.

As any new provider needs to be tested extensively to ensure the platform cooperates with the connection adapter and doesn't cause any issues, even in fringe cases, it takes a significant amount of time to confirm an adapter is fully functional and compliant.

While our development team is working hard on adding as many features or additional adapters as possible, even their time is limited. As such, the focus is usually coordinated based on the client's interest, feasibility, and time needed to implement a feature.

As we track the interest in adding additional brokerages (and all features in general), we can then focus on adding the most commonly requested brokerages or datafeed providers first.

In the case of LMAX, we simply have not yet been able to.

I have added a vote on your behalf for LMAX to ensure our development team is aware of this interest.

Whenever additional providers are being added you will find this information in our Release Notes.

On a minor note; As this question is for NinjaTrader 8, I've split your post off from the original post and moved it to the NinjaTrader 8 forum instead. That way it can easily be found by anyone searching for it.

Please don't hesitate to let me know, should you have any further questions in this regard!

          Hi Manfred,

          Thanks for the answer.

What's the news about the strategic reason (other partners (FXCM, forex.com or Oanda) agreement-s shelving the project).

How come Multicharts and MT4 and SierraCharts can manage the technical challenge but not Ninjatrader?

          https://ninjatrader.com/support/foru...398#post557398

How come the 'vendor' in violation of terms of service can manage but you can't?

Here Ryan says you add about 2 brokers per year:

But upon comparing the brokers providers lists for NT7 to NT8

          https://ninjatrader.com/support/helpGuides/nt7/?historical_data.htm

          https://ninjatrader.com/support/helpGuides/nt8/?historical_data_manager.htm

          we get 20 (NT7) vs 15 (NT8).

You have 5 less brokers on NT8? Or is the complete NT8 list an other one?

Else how come you did not add the 2 brokers per year expected since 2012 (18 brokers are missing?)

About my added vote, can you share the ticket number so we can check against it in the future?

About the terms of service, can you refer the terms of service page? To check what's the official written conditions.

About the partners brokers mention here there was a link that's dead:

          http://www.ninjatrader.com/partners#Brokers

Do you have the partners brokers link up somewhere else?

I'd like to preface my direct answers below by pointing point out that many of your quotes from my colleagues are from 7 years or more in the past. As the world of trading evolved, so has NinjaTrader. For example, when most of those posts were written, NinjaTrader was only a software company. Since then, we've become a brokerage ourselves. I hope you can understand that this alone would necessitate a very different strategic vision for the future of NinjaTrader.

The internal tracking number for your feature request is SFT-2384. Please reference this internal tracking number when contacting Platform Support if you ever have questions regarding this feature request.

When a feature request is implemented, you'll find a description of the new feature in the release notes:

The priorities of NinjaTrader as a company have shifted since that post in 2014.

              Hi Patrick,

Thanks for the reasons and clarity.

Will Ninjatrader offer Forex Brokerage services in the future? If not, renegotiate with Forex partners?

Why restrict the Forex brokers if Ninjatrader does not offer itself Forex brokerage services?
That's not in the best interest of the Ninjatrader user to do so.

Why doesn't NT8 offer a competitive payable optional Forex brokers connection of the user's choice for Forex broker-s of the user's choice (at least until Ninjatrader offers itself a Forex Brokerage Service)?
That would solve the issue of both partner agreement and unauthorized vendors.

Is there other Forex brokers available to non US users with NT8?

What are the available Forex brokers currently connectable to NT7?

These questions are effectively the same as the ones you've already asked. We typically do not publicly share past or future strategic business decisions and have no update to share at this time. In general, there is no 'preview' of any upcoming technical or strategic change before it is implemented.

Traders outside the US can use NinjaTrader 8 to trade spot forex with either FXCM or CityIndex. FXCM would be the only option for traders outside the US to trade on NinjaTrader 7. Interactive Brokers may be able to offer accounts for spot forex trading, however, you would need to contact Interactive Brokers directly for more information.

In general, I would not recommend using NinjaTrader 7 as it is no longer receiving updates as we focus on NinjaTrader 8 and the future of NinjaTrader software.

                  Hi Patrick,

                  Thanks for the answers.

That's not in the interest of the Ninjatrader users to limit the Forex Brokers. You won't necessarily lose futures brokerage customers by enabling free choice of Forex brokers.
Think of customers who trade both Futures and Forex, not only of those who trade one or the other only.
The former ones need to go elsewhere for satisfactory Forex Brokerage service when they could use Ninjatrader for both, on demand if you added the service.
For those users you lose on every account (they either chose another platform or use 'unauthorized vendors'). While they in no way constitute a strategic liability from Ninjatrader Brokerage services point of view.

Can you submit a request to add a free choice (or from a vote of 1 among 3 to 5 NT8 users' voted chosen Forex brokers) of 1 'Free choice' Forex broker connection features?
Why not try it? On demand. Even if strategy dictates users having a Ninjatrader Futures account for the benefit?

Users would gladly pay for it. Something akin to Multicharts added features for extra cost. They also offer negotiable rebates for holders of competitors licenses. That is incentive to keep and get others clients, clients with unsatisfactory Forex Brokerage offers.
Users business should be negotiable as long as there's no conflict of interest. Business is negotiable by definition.

I surely would prefer paying Ninjatrader for it rather than unauthorized vendors or use another platform just for this nonsensical reason pushing users away.
You can only gain from it on the long term.

And on the extralong term it wouldn't even conflict with Ninjatrader Forex Brokerage services provided you give competitive commissions.

Thanks for all of your feedback. SFT-2384 is tracking user demand for additional supported brokers. No duplicate tracking is needed.

Deciding on features for future releases is not a simple black-and-white decision. There are many factors involved including but not limited to:
                    • The demand, which is measured by objective user requests and subjective discretion on the part of our Product Management team.
                    • Feasibility
                    • Developer bandwidth
                    • Current projects in the queue
                    • Economics
You'll find a note regarding your feature request in the release notes when a feature is implemented.

                      Hi Patrick,

                      Thanks for the answer.

                      I meant change my request.

                      From:
                      add LMAX connection

                      To:
Add on demand 1 'Free Choice Forex Brokerage connection chosen upon voting of Ninjatrader Users among a shortlist o 3 to 5 Forex Brokers connections'.

Please, either delete my previous feature request and add the 2nd above, or keep both, no duplicate nor single if the 1st, single only if the 2nd.

SFT-2384 is tracking user demand for additional brokers/connection technologies. While I see why you're wanting to 'zoom out' and generalize the request, that will actually decrease the likelihood of implementation.

                          Hi Patrick,

                          Thanks for the answer.

'Additional brokers/connection technologies' is too general, and clearly not the feature I submitted.

Do you mean 'Forex Brokers' for 'Additional brokers/connection technologies'?

So essentially you mean you did not add my previous vote to the LMAX request of the NT7 initiated topic?

And SFT-2384 is not referring to LMAX connection only?

In this case can you please share the ticket number for the 'LMAX' only request?
It was not shared on the previous thread and that was why I asked for it in the 1st place.
Sharing it would enable later viewers interested to give their votes efficiently. Thank you.

If SFT-2384 decreases the likelihood of implementation, if at all in the real sense, all the more reason to keep them separate.

SFT-2384 is a list of 40+ brokers that people have asked for us to implement. LMAX is one of those brokers and your vote was added specifically to that.
