    New Computer Blues

    Salutations,

    I'm trying to set up a new computer, and I ran into one problem: NinjaTrader 8.

    I received the following message:

    NinjaTrader has detected recent changes to your machine ID. For security purposes, you will need to re-enter account connection credentials and your license key has been reset to a simulation only key.

    O.K., I had a simulation key to begin with. No visible change to any settings or the key; but now, Ninjatrader 8 loads the market data but not the real-time data from Interactive Brokers. How do I fix this?

    Thanks for posting.

    If your machine ID has changed, NinjaTrader 8 will automatically remove your license key, username and password, and other sensitive information. you can re-configure your connection to Interactive Brokers by following the guide linked below:

      Hello NinjaTrader_Tyler,

      NinjaTrader 8 did not remove the license key, username and password. When I try to remove the license key myself I get the following error:

      NinjaTrader requires a valid license key to start. Your license could not be verified. If you feel you are receiving this message in error please contact [email protected]. Please enter your license key below.

      Typing or pasting the sim key again does nothing. NinjaTrader 8 was up, connected, and working fine before I received the original error.

      May I ask a question? Is the machine ID bound to the simulation key?

        Thanks for your reply.

        If your machine ID has changed, your live key will be reverted to the simulation key. If you already were using the simulation key, then nothing would change in regard to your license key. There is no need to remove this license key from the platform.
