How to not let active order/position change chart scale?

As titled, now the chart is like this:

Name:	nj1.PNG
Views:	397
Size:	59.2 KB
ID:	1173101

You can see the price range is squeezed to the top 1/4 of chart because the chart tries to display the very low limit buy order. This makes it very hard to see local price structures and to adjust price of other orders. This also happens if you have a position far below the current price range; the chart will also squeeze the visible prices in order to display the active position.

How can I get it like this:

It's the same chart, but without displaying the out-of-range buy order or an out-of-range active position, and you can see the price movement much better, and adjust other orders much easier too.

    Thank you!

    Hello xxzbill,

    Thank you for your message.

This will not be possible using an Automatic Scale on your Chart, only a Fixed manual scale. For reference, all of the available Scaling properties can be accessed by right-clicking on the Y-axis itself and selecting 'Properties' which brings up the Chart Panel Properties specifically.

NinjaTrader 8 Help Guide - Chart Panel Properties

Here is a complete guide for navigating a chart quickly while using a Fixed scale though to help you keep easy control of the chart, for extra reference:

    Navigating a Chart

To navigate on a Chart in NinjaTrader 8, do the following:
    • You may move freely on your Charts by holding the Ctrl key + clicking and dragging with your mouse
    • Clicking and dragging on the X-axis (Times/Dates) will allow you to compress/expand the number of bars displayed on your Chart
    • Clicking and dragging on the Y-axis (Prices) will allow you to compress/expand the overall price scale displayed on your Chart
Right-clicking on the Y-axis will allow you to manually adjust all of these Scale properties to specific parameters if needed.

To snap back to the current price/bar on your Chart, click on the Arrow that appears at the top-right of your chart. To snap the Y-axis scale back to an Automatic range, click on the "F" at the top-right of your chart.

    Horizontal and Vertical Range Adjustment
You will be able to adjust your Chart's Vertical and Horizontal scale by doing the following:
    • Left-click and drag up/down on the Y-axis (Prices) to scale in and out of the current price
    • Hold Ctrl + left-click and drag up/down on the Y-axis to move higher/lower on the Price Scale
    • Hold Ctrl + left-click and drag in any direction on the Chart itself to change the view freely
You may also change the Price Range to lock at specific values by doing the following:
    • Right-click on the Y-axis (Prices) of your chart
    • Select 'Properties'
    • Change the Range from 'Automatic' to 'Fixed'
    • Input any specific Range you would like to have visible
    • Click 'OK' to save and apply

Please keep in mind that the Automatic Range for Charts will always include any Indicators attached to the same Panel.
