    NT Platform V8 + V7 Coexistence

    Good morning,

Please I need to ask a specific question.

I have been using since January of this year 2021 the NT V8 platform. Before I have been a V7 user for more than 5 years.
At the moment I have V8 on my usual computer for trading and I am working with it during all this year 2021.
Also on a secondary computer I have the V7 version which I have not opened since I started using V8 in January.

    My question is:

Can I open Ninjatrader V7 on my secondary computer and use it only for analysis and chart consultation until the last date I used the platform there and not be connected to data and not be connected to the Internet logically, because V7 is not valid? and also have my Ninjatrader V8 on my usual work computer to do my trading session?
Is there any compatibility problem because of my user, profile or any other reason I don't know?

Thank you very much for your great and good help.
    Best regards.and good day.

    Hello Javier LLorden,

    Thank you for your post.

For your inquiry, you are able to use the NinjaTrader 7 version on one laptop and NinjaTrader 8 on another laptop as you described. Keep in mind that you will only be able to connect to your Live Data Feed within one of these computers at a time, though you would still be able to use the Simulated Data Feed in each along with Market Replay if you have data recorded. You just cannot connect to a Live Data Feed connection with two platforms at the same time using the same credentials.

Please let me know if I can help you further.

      Hi Max,

      Thank you for your reply.
It is quite possible that I did not explain myself well before as English is not my native language.

On my laptop which has NT V7 I would only do my analysis and I would never use V7 with data and I would never be connected to the Internet.

For example; have V7 open with a pc that has no internet connection and have at the same time V8 normally but on a different computer and connected to the internet with real time data?
      Would there be any incompatibility?

Thanks again and sorry for the inconvenience.

        Thank you for your response.

For your inquiry, there should not be incompatibility with this.

Last I knew, that won't work.

NinjaTrader.exe requires an internet connection for itself
so that it can verify the user's license key.

NT Support, is this still correct?

            Good Friday morning,

Please can you confirm me if everything has been solved or is the question to bltdavid's sentence "NT Support, is this still correct?" still pending to be answered by NT Support.

            Thanks for the help.
            Best regards

              Hello Javier LLorden,

In regards to your post, you would still be able to interchangeably use both platforms but in order to have full function with NinjaTrader 7, as far as analysis goes, it would need to be connected to a Live Data Feed in order to get the best possible results.

Please let me know if I may help you further.

                You didn't answer the question.

He doesn't want this PC w/NinjaTrader connected to the internet at all.
(Presumably he has loaded historical data previously)

Can he start NinjaTrader without an internet connection?

Doesn't NinjaTrader always require an internet connection?
At a minimum, doesn't NinjaTrader.exe need to check its own license key?

Can NT Support please test this and officially confirm yes or no?

[EDIT: My point is: without an internet connection, I think NinjaTrader.exe
fails to startup, because it fails checking the Ninja license key with the
                Ninja license servers.]

                  Hello,

                  Thank you for your reply.

Yes, you are correct. NinjaTrader requires an active internet connection to function.
