Hello everyone, I wanted to ask how I can add the German Volatility Index (VDAX) to the instruments. Can you help me?

    Hello Lopat ,

Thank you very much for your message.

Do you have a provider of real-time/historical data for this instrument? If you are connected to a provider, please follow the steps below to add this instrument:
    • Navigate to the Control Center > Tools > Instruments window.
    • Left-click on the ‘add’ button that appears near the lower right-hand corner of the Instruments window.
    • Enter instrument-specific symbol mapping, exchanges, and other information on the Instrument editor that appears. This information will largely depend on your broker or data feed provider’s specific settings regarding the instrument in question.
    • Left-click the OK button once each field has been filled out with correct information.

The new instrument has now been created in your database. Should you wish to add this instrument to an instrument list:
    • Navigate to the Control Center > Tools > Instruments Lists window.
    • Left-click to select the instrument list that you wish to add this instrument to in the left panel, then left-click on the ‘add’ button at the bottom of the right-hand panel.
    • Type the name and (if applicable) front month of your instrument in the search field that appears. Press the Enter button on your keyboard to confirm this change.
    • Left-click the OK button to close the Instrument Lists window.
Your new instrument is now added to the instrument list of your choice.

Please let us know if we may be of further assistance!

      Hello Manfred,
On the same subject of adding new instruments, I am reporting a problem as follows:
      1. I opened the Instrument dialog and entered the Master Instrument name, selected Currency and Exchanges, then entered stock symbol for Kinetick.
      2. Pressed the "Apply" button. No problem so far
      3. As I would be entering many stock symbols for TSX, I used the same dialog without exiting so I could retain the Currency and Exchange selections.
      4. I changed the Master instrument to a new name (from C_AEM to C_ATD), and a new ticker symbol (from C.AEM to C.ATD) for Kinetick.
      5. When I pressed the "Apply" button again, Ninjatrader displayed an error message as shown below. I checked that the new instrument name was not in the database and repeated the same operation. Ninjatrader reported the same error message.

The only work around is to close the instrument input dialog by pressing the "OK" button and restart the entire procedure for another new symbol.

        Hello,

By ticker symbol do you mean instrument mapping? Can you reproduce this on other instruments?

          Thanks for the quick response.

For clarification: Stock symbols are also known as ticker symbols.

          1. By ticker symbol, I am referring to the stock symbol that Kinetick used to retrieve stock data for the Ninjatrader chart. For the Canadian TSX exchange, instead of using the stock symbol ATD, Kinetick requires it to be C.ATD.

          2. Using the same procedure, this problem was reproducible with other instrument names (eg. C_BCE) and stock symbols (eg. C.BCE).

          3. Additional problems: After the stock symbol had been entered into the instrument database, when opening the chart with the same new stock symbol, Ninjatrader displayed a similar error message "Unhandled exception...".
Looking at the instrument input dialog, I noticed that there were two Exchanges that were selected ("Default" and "Tsx"). "Tsx" was selected by me and "Default" was probably selected by Ninjatrader prior to opening the dialog. After I deselected the "Default" exchange, the problem was no longer present.
