If you want to run your automated strategy, then yes,
    NinjaTrader needs to be running.

If your computer is turned off, NinjaTrader is not running.
If NinjaTrader is not running, then neither is your strategy.

NinjaTrader does not have the ability to turn on your computer.

NinjaTrader does not have an automated scheduler to start
    running your strategy.

NinjaTrader requires that you start your strategy manually,
and in order to do that, obviously your computer must be
turned on, and obviously NinjaTrader needs to be up and
    running.

      Hello gvaughn,

      Thank you for your note.

As bltdavid noted, your platform will indeed need to be running for your automated strategy to function.

I’ve got a quick question. I’m trying to upload my automated strategy for the E-Mini S&P 500 and it keeps giving me the 12/21 contract where do I go to turn it on for the new contract?

            Hello gvaughn,

            Thank you for your note.

I'd recommend rolling over your instruments to easily access the current front month for these instruments from the instrument lookup menu.

Please follow these steps to roll over the expiration date of a Futures contract:
            • Navigate to the Control Center > Tools > Database window.
            • Left-click the ‘Rollover’ button that appears just below the table under the ‘Rollover futures instruments’ section.
            • Close this window when this process completes.
You can learn more about the different ways to rollover by visiting the link below:To view contract rollover, expiry dates, and other trading events click the link below. Please let us know if we may be of further assistance.
