Execute 2 different strategies on the same instrument

I have 2 different strategies - 1 to SHORT and the other to buy LONG. My question is can I run them concurrently on the same instrument. i.e ES futures. What do I need to cater for?

    Hello Bullero,

    Thank you for your note.

You may run two different strategies on the same instrument but it would not be advised to use the same account as the Account position may become unsynchronized with the strategy position.

Below I have included a link to our NinjaTrader Help Guide on Strategy Position vs. Account Position:

Thanks for your response, is your recommendation for me to open another trading acount with Ninja Trader or can I somehow pull it off with 1 account. I dont know the consequences of the unsync account referenced the article.

        Yes.

Otherwise, your sanity will be tested.

            Excellent.

            However...
Be careful, make sure your new account is with the same
broker as your first account -- you want both accounts to
be associated with the exact same login credentials.

            Why is that?
Because after NinjaTrader connects to your broker, you
need NinjaTrader's Account dropdown box to show both
accounts. Your broker is the one to make that happen.

This is an absolute 'must-have' requirement.

Otherwise, having two sets of login credentials, means you
have two connections, and most NT8 connection adapters
only allow one connection at time.

Also, having two (or more) accounts under the same set
of login credentials does not require a Multi-Broker License,
because those accounts are under one single broker -- and
a single broker only requires one single connection, nothing
'multi-broker' about making a connection to one broker with
            one set of credentials.

Make sure your broker understands this requirement.

            -=o=-

Although not well understood, a Multi-Broker License means
a license to connect to multiple broker technology adapters
at the same time, such as Continuum and/or Rithmic and/or
TDAmeritrade and/or Interactive Brokers, etc, etc (ie, any
two or more) all at the exact same time.

Connecting to a single adapter with a single set of credentials
(and then having one or more accounts show up in NinjaTrader's
Account dropdown) only requires a Single-Broker License.

Typically, an MBL does not allow a second connection using the
same broker technology adapter. That is, for ex, connecting two
connections to two different Continuum accounts from the same
NinjaTrader at the same time is not allowed -- even if these two
accounts are with the same broker, that doesn't matter, an MBL
does not remove this restriction. (You can setup a second NT8
connection for a different account to the same broker, sure, but
only one of the these connections can be connected at a time.)

            Make sense?

            Moral of the story:
Multiple accounts at the same broker should all be associated
together under the same set of login credentials.
