      Hello BurnOutTrader,

Can you please check if you experience the issue when running NinjaTrader in safe mode. Safe Mode will prevent NinjaTrader from:
      • Loading workspaces.
      • Connecting on start-up.
      • Loading custom assemblies.
      • Getting instrument updates from the server.

To enable safe mode, please use the following steps:
      • Exit NinjaTrader.
      • Hold the CONTROL key and double click the NinjaTrader icon.
      • Keep the CONTROL key held down until you see the Control Center.
      • You can verify you are in safe mode by going to Help -> About.

In addition, please follow the steps below to manually attach your log and trace files and send them to platformsupport[at]ninjatrader[dot]com. Put 'Att Jason, 3526359' in the subject field of your email.
      • Open the Windows File Explorer (hotkey = Windows key + E) Then navigate to, "Documents" > 'NinjaTrader 8' folder
      • Right-click on the 'log' and 'trace' folders and select Send To> Compressed (zipped) Folder.
      • Send the 2 compressed folders as attachments to this email.
      • Once complete, you can delete these compressed folders.

Hmmm, installed to its own SSD?

        What does that mean, exactly?

What is the full path of where NinjaTrader is installed?

What is the full path of your 'Documents/NinjaTrader 8/bin/Custom/Indicators' folder?

You can change the automatic connection setting by directly editing
your Config.xml file, it's pretty easy to do, it's only one setting.

          Exit (or kill) NinjaTrader.
Edit your 'Documents\NinjaTrader 8\Config.xml' file using Notepad.
          Search for 'ConnectOnStartup'.

You will find Xml tags that look like this,

          <ConnectOnStartup>false</ConnectOnStartup>

If you find any values set to true, change them to false.
          Restart NinjaTrader.

This should prevent NT from automatically attempting to connect
to your account when it first starts up.

This technique is not quite as severe as Safe Mode, but it does
require some editing on your part. Be safe, make a backup
          before doing any such editing.

I would recommend you avoid having any connection auto connect
during startup. You should always do that manually, because other
wise if the connection hangs for some reason, so could the startup
          process.

          -=o=-

          Btw, are you using Apex?
I think there is a known issue with blown accounts that have not been
reset for some time becoming deactivated by Rithmic, which may be
causing the connection attempt to hang.

Yes I suspect it could also be a rithmic issue there have been some paper trading issues lately, but I have managed to evade them so far, both my accounts are active atm however.

I just thought I would get a jump on the issue incase it is not rithmic, I will post an update on what works to fix the problem if it persists today. Thanks again

by "installed to its own SSD" i mean that i installed ninjatrader to its own drive under D:\Trading
the documents folder remains the same, I did consider stopping OneDrive from syncing my documents folder but I haven't been back testing much so i didn't think it was worth the effort as back testing seems to be the only time having OneDrive on becomes a disadvantage.

the problem is actually solved after a reset, I think what has happened is I use 'windows power tools' to keep the laptop awake, and i forgot to disable it and when the laptop has gone to sleep after closing the lid some services may have shutdown that effect ninja trader 8.

I rarely reset my laptop so I didn't even think of this sorry.

                  Glad you found your issue!

For any trading desktop computer, set Windows to Never Sleep.
For any trading laptop computer, set to Never Sleep as well as Always Ignore Lid Closure.

                  In summary:
A trading computer either has power and is a fully functioning computer, or is powered off.
A trading computer should never sleep.

                  Just my 2˘.

You know another thing I had done a while back is index my whole system, huge mistake, NT went from 13gb to 400mb of ram usage when I disable indexing of 99% of my system.
