Problem with Data Feed

Hi Guys

i have a problem with the ninjatrader software everytime i try to place a Order i get some Error messages like

1. "there is no market data available to drive the simulation engine"
2. "you cant have a zero price limityou cant price zero limit"

the next crazy thing is if i place a Limit order my order is 20 points aways from the current price

please help

Thank you for writing in.

It sounds like you need to reach out to your Broker or Market Data Provider and let them know that you would like to get real-time market data for the instruments that you are trading.

From looking at message #1:

• "there is no market data available"
  • It appears that you do not have any real-time market data for the instrument you are looking at and trying to place trades on.
• Message #2 is a result of having no real-time market data. Since there are no ask/bid quotes, they would be showing 0.
  • Then if you click Buy/Sell Ask/Bid, it would submit a limit order at that location, which is currently 0 since there is no real-time market data

Please know that you can still place live trades without having real-time market data.

So, if you click Buy Market or Sell Market on your live account, those orders will go through and fill at the current market price.

• If you are submitting orders to your live account, those orders would be going through while you have no real-time information on what is happening with the market prices.
• If the NinjaTrader platform is not getting real-time market data, many of the features would not work as expected as NinjaTrader uses the real-time market data to see what is happening with the market prices and take the appropriate actions

  • You can also use it to sign up for a Free Demo of Forex Market data, but I am only going to provide specific information on the Futures Demo unless the additional information is requested
• I like to specify the terminology by saying, "This is a Real-time Real-world Demo of Futures market data so you can place Simulated Trades on the real-world market prices"

The Free Demo of Futures Market Data:

• Is provided by the exchange so the NinjaTrader teams will have no access to the credentials, enablements, or be able to extend/reset it.
• Lasts for 14 calendar days from when it is initially requested
• May only be requested Once per Calendar year (365 Days)
  • Subsequent requests after that will be denied

To connect to the Demo of Futures Market Data in NinjaTrader 8:

• Within NinjaTrader, go to the Control Center > Connections > Configure
• Double-click "NinjaTrader Continuum" in the 'Available' list on the top left of the window that opened
• You will see the new connection appear below in the 'Configured' section
• In the Properties section on the right side of the window, copy and paste the Username and Password into their respective boxes from the email you received from CQG
• Make sure the Demo box IS checked
• Click OK
• Go back to the Control Center > Connections > Click on the connection you just made
