    Historical data

    hi. ive just signed up with Kinetick intra day data with Cboe index data which has a few of the VIX related indexes i need. i get this error message.

    and when i press the buttons together nothing happened since last night. at least 10 hrs. when i try and load up a chart it shows like this

    ive tried loading data through the historical data option but it says its downloading for a few seconds. then nothing changes. can anyone help please.

    Hello Alexiosc,

    Thank you for writing in.

    The first screenshot looks like it is some kind of 3rd party NinjaScript Add-on that wasn't made by the NinjaTrader team, so I have no further documentation or information on why it looks that way and what needs to be done to make it work as expected.
    Although, we would be able to provide more information on the Instrument and Symbol Mapping to get the ^VIX9D working within a default NinjaTrader Chart.


    Please use the following steps to test if the Instrument is working on a basic NinjaTrader only chart. Once you confirm that the basic thing works as expected, you can then move to include it in the indicators. Then if it stops working, you will know it is because of the Indicators you applied to it.

    Please perform the following test:
    • Go to the Control Center > New > Chart
    • Select the ^VIX9D
    • Make it a 1-minute chart
    • Set the 'Days to load' to 5
    • Make sure 'Template' in the top-right corner is set to < None >
    • Set the Time frame > Trading hours > To "Default 24x7"
    • Click OK to make the chart
    • Does this chart load in as expected?
    • Is this chart moving?
      • If the Test Chart is working as expected and we know the Instrument works with the base NinjaTrader platform, try to use your Indicator again. If it is still not working, you will need to ask the developers for more information on why and what needs to be done to use it.
    If this chart did not load in or isn't moving, please go to the Control Center > Instruments > Search for the ^VIX9D > Double-click it to go to its properties
    • Make sure the Exchange is set to:
      • CBOE
    • Make sure the Symbol Map is:
      • VIX9D.XO
    • Click OK > Go to the chart > Right-click on the background and select "Reload all historical data"

    Here is an example of what my Test Chart looked like upon creating this response:

      thanks for the response. i tried all the above, but using a VIX chart which is not moving.......it still doesnt move in real time, but, when i hit the "reload historical data" it moves to the last price then gets stuck again until i hit the reload again.....

        Hello Alesiosc,

        Thank you for the update.

        So, if once the chart is loaded in, it doesn't move until you Reload the historical Data?
        • This sounds like you are getting Historical Data but not Real Time data.
        • If you look at the Control Center > Log tab, are there any useful messages?

        Please use the following steps to send your Log and Trace files directly to the Platform Support team so we may look into what could be causing this behavior:
        • Go to the Control Center > Help > Email Support
        • Enter your email
        • Enter the Subject as "Clayton ATTN ##REQUESTID##"
        • Expand the "Other files" section
        • Check the following boxes:
        • Log and Trace files
        • Workspace files
        • Templates
        • Send the message
