Using multiple computers with the same account

I have a lean computer on the cloud which runs the strategies.

I wish to use my beefy home computer to work on them. I don't need my home computer to submit orders on my live trading account, just design strategies and backtest them.

Ninja Trader's Strategy Evaluator is memory greedy and often to the point the application is becomes unresponsive and has to be terminated. It's not ideal when strategies are running on live account and need to be synchronized again. Easy to make mistakes and lose money. Regardless, I need to turn off / reboot my home computer time to time and it's not compatible with a 24/5 trading use.

I know EOD data is free with Kinetick, but it is only 1-day data, I wish to have 5 minutes, tick information, order flow etc. I don't need the data to be live (it would be plus though). I don't need to submit orders to my real account. Backup/restore the data every day is tedious.

What are my options besides opening a another account and what would be the most cost effective?

If you want to receive live data on two computers at the same time, the most cost-effective solution would be to set up a second market data connection through your brokerage account. If your account is with NinjaTrader Brokerage, then you can send a note to brokeragesupport[AT]ninjatrader[DOT]com to make this request.

After having contacted the support, the answer is that there's nothing short of taking a second market data subscription.

There is a $10/mo fee on top.

That starts to be expensive just for being able to work on strategies without wrecking the ones that are live.

I wish we could put connections in a "read only mode" (can't place trades), or delayed by 1 hour or something, that wouldn't count as simultaneous connection. Or anything that would take into account that the computer on which strategies are running is not the one we use to design them.

I need access to live data on two computers under the same network, one I use for trading (which runs trading strategies), the other for simulations on real time data. With my trading account, I can only log in from one computer at a time. What's the solution?
Create another account to be able to use live data? Create another simulated account with real-time data? Or other?

The infomration in post # 2 is still relevant. You would need to contact your broker to get a second data feed to be able to do that.

The best thing might be to subscribe to a cheap eval
account from a prop firm. Apex has a sale right now
where first month is 90% off then 80% every month
after that. Leeloo has a new eval acct category which
is very cheap, called their 'LE' accounts, even more so
when they go on sale.

Prop firm accts are on Rithmic, so you could connect
to simultaneously on same machine or 2nd machine.

No extra license purchase is necessary, most prop firms
will give you a special NT license key configured for just
their prop accounts.

The point is not pass these evals, but find the cheapest
one and enjoy the use of the Rithmic data feed. Make
a small trade every now and then, and you're good.

Or better yet, pass the eval, then pay the one-time
lifetime fee that enables the funded acct. Then you
have no more fees, and a 'free' Rithmic data feed for
life.
