Heikin Ashi chart in NinjatTrader 8 same as in Ninjatrader 7

    Hi,

The Heikin Aski Chart in NinjaTrader 8 is totally different than the Heikin Ashi Chart in NinjaTrader 7.

I like to get the same Heikin Ashi chart like it is in Ninjatrader 7.

I miss the bar size input.

    Who can help?

    Thanks

    Hello olliger,

    Thank you for writing in.

This is because the NinjaTrader 7 Platform does not have Heiken Ashi Bars by default.
    • So, the Heiken Ashi bars you were using in NinjaTrader 7 would have been a 3rd party NinjaScript Add-on that you brought into the platform.
      • You could reach out to the developer and see if they made a version for NinjaTrader 8.
    • Click image for larger version

Please see the following link for a list of the different Bar Types included within NinjaTrader 7:
The NinjaTrader 8 platform does include Heiken Ashi Bars. Please see the link below for more detailed information on the Heiken Ashi Bars within NinjaTrader 8:

If the Heiken Ashi bar type within NinjaTrader doesn't satisfy your needs, you may be able to find a 3rd party Heiken Ashi Bar type within the Publicly Available User App Share website that adds the functionality you are looking for.
Here is a short video demonstration of the import process:
Here is a basic guideline of how to import NinjaScript add-ons in NinjaTrader 8:

Note — To import NinjaScripts you will need the original .zip file.

    To Import:
    1. Download the NinjaScripts to your desktop, keep them in the compressed .zip file.
    2. From the Control Center window select the menu Tools > Import > NinjaScript Add-on...
    3. Select the downloaded .zip file
    4. NinjaTrader will then confirm if the import has been successful.
Critical - Specifically for some NinjaScripts, it will prompt that you are running newer versions of @SMA, @EMA, etc. and ask if you want to replace, press 'No'

      Hello ollinger,

In NinjaTrader7 HeikenAshi bars were created by using the indicator HeikenAshi which you added to the platform. In NinjaTrader8 HeikenAshi was provided as a bar ty\pe but was limited to certain "base" bars.

You can download and install the indicator below, free, and create heiken ashi bars in exactly the same way as you did in NinjaTrader7. In fact it was made to provide that ability.

NinjaTrader 8 natively provides Heiken Ashi as a bar type for most common bar types (minute, tick, volume, second, day, week, month, year). This Heiken Ashi indicator is provided for the Range, Renko and any custom bar types that may be added. The indicator performs in the same manner as the NinjaTrader 7 version. 4-27-18 […]

If you are using a base that is not supported, you can use the indicator that Tasker-182 mentions.
