    Parralels on Mac Can't verfiy license/ Could not reach license server

    So I put the trial version parralels on my macbook air, then I downloaded NT8 and when it loads it says it can't verify the license and then when I go to add the LICENSE KEY in the help section it says that the license servers can't be reached. Please someone help please...

    Thank you for your note.

    NinjaTrader 7 and NinjaTrader 8 are Windows applications that rely on the .NET Framework to operate. The .NET Framework is only available on Windows Operating System and DOES NOT run on the Mac Operating System.

    While we do not officially support running NinjaTrader on a Mac; we have had many clients run NinjaTrader on Mac hardware.

    We have specific installation instructions for Parallels and VMWare Fusion, allowing you to run NinjaTrader on your Mac. Below you will find instructions specific to the available options of running NinjaTrader on a Mac computer with the virtualization tools. Please note that Windows is sold separately from Parallels and VMWare.

    Mac Installation - Configuring NinjaTrader for Parallels

    When installing NinjaTrader on a Mac using Parallels users will need to ensure that the following steps have been taken prior to the installation of NinjaTrader.
    1. Start Parallels and select your virtual machine
    2. Press the "Configure" button on the top
    3. Under "Options", select "Sharing"
    4. Uncheck "Share Mac" under "Share Mac User Folders with Windows"
      • This must be done or your platform could experience a variety of unwanted and unexpected behaviors like connection issues and more.
    5. Press "OK" and start the virtual machine

    Mac Installation - Configuring NinjaTrader for VMWare Fusion:

    When configuring NinjaTrader on a Mac running VMWare, users will need to ensure that the following steps have been taken prior to the installation of NinjaTrader.
    1. Start VMWare and select your virtual machine
    2. Press the "Settings" button on the bottom
    3. Under "System Settings", select "Sharing"
    4. Uncheck "Documents" from the "Mirrored Folders" list
    5. Close the "Settings" window and start the virtual machine

    If you are still unable to enter the license key, please use the steps below to send us a message with your log and trace files attached so we may look into this behavior further:
    • Go to the Control Center > Help > Email Support
    • Select: Platform Technical Support
    • Enter the subject as: Clayton ATTN 03398643"
    • Include any additional information in the Body as desired
    • Ensure the "Log and trace files" box is checked
      • Send the email

      So what if I already installed NT8 before performing the steps above? Do I have to uninstall parallels and install it again???

        Thank you for the update.

        You are able to verify if the Windows and Mac side of the computers have not been separated as needed by checking the 3rd line of the NinjaTrader Trace files:
        • Go to the Documents folder > NinjaTrader 8 > trace
        • Look for the trace file with the most recent date and then open the file in a Word editor
          • UserDataDir='\\mac\Users\hayat\Documents\NinjaTrader 8\'​
            • If you see the Path above, you need to perform the steps as mentioned to set up Parallels as needed then Uninstall and then Reinstall NinjaTrader and set everything back up from scratch.
            • If you have a backup file of your settings you could import that to bring things back, otherwise, these steps can result in everything being removed from the Windows - Documents folder including all of the NinjaTrader settings and files you've made so far
          • Seeing the "\" lets us know that it is a Networked Drive
          • Seeing "Mac" lets us know it is with the Mac side of the computer
            • If the Mac side of the computer is looking at or accessing the files for some reason, it will cause NinjaTrader to not be able to see/use the files and cause a variety of unwanted behaviors.

        When installing NinjaTrader on a Mac using Parallels users will need to ensure that the following steps have been taken prior to the installation of NinjaTrader.
        • Start Parallels and select your virtual machine
        • Press the "Configure" button on the top
        • Under "Options", select "Sharing"
        • Uncheck "Share Mac" under "Share Mac User Folders with Windows"
        • This is an important step, please make sure this is done
        • Press "OK" and start the virtual machine

        After performing the steps above, you will just need to uninstall and then reinstall NinjaTrader again and you should be ready to move forward.

        Please use the steps below to download and install NinjaTrader 8:
        • Click 'Yes' or 'No' for a Free Demo of Live Market Data
        • Click the big maroon Download button above NinjaTrader 8
        • Once downloaded, double-click the file to run the installer
        • Make sure to leave the installation location set to its default location
        • Click Next through the prompts until it is finished installing
        • After installing the platform, run the program by double-clicking the "NinjaTrader 8(64-bit)" desktop icon.
        • If you requested a demo, enter the credentials in the connection window that pops up upon opening
        • If you did not request a demo, click 'Skip'

        From here you are ready to set the platform back up or import your backup file to bring settings back in.

          Still not working. I did everything as instructed above. How to I download the log and trace files and email them????
