DISCREPANCY: MONDAY DAILY BAR vs. WEEKLY MONDAY BAR

Good day good people,

could you pleaseexplain why my Daily Monday Bar differs from my Weekly, first day of the week Monday price info? (Trading Hours Settings are the same)

The reason this likely occurs is due to how daily bars are delivered. Daily bars arrive directly from the exchange and only contain 5 values (Open, High, Low, Close, and Volume).

As such, NinjaTrader is not able to apply a trading hour template to it and has to chart this information as-is.

To resolve this, please chart a 1440-minute chart instead. As each day has 1,440 minutes, this forces NinjaTrader to use minute bars to build the daily chart, which would then respect the selected trading hour template.

I just checked, Weekly Bars even though it is set to RTH the info shown is that of ETH.

The Weekly bars are based on daily bars, as such, they would also not separate between RTH and ETH data. In short, a weekly bar would use 7 daily bars. As neither of these bars separates, the weekly bar is then also missing this information.

I would suggest setting the weekly chart to a 10080-minute chart. This would use 10080 minutes to build one weekly bar, which would then respect the template.

Thank you for the 10080 suggestion.
I take your reply as, data for weekly bars are only based on ETH data.
Do you know if Ninjatrader is working on having a RTH weekly bar option?

Unfortunately, this is a limitation of the underlying data itself. In short, as long as we request daily bars (which are used to create daily, weekly, and monthly charts), we do not receive separate RTH information. Only minute- and tick-data would allow this separation.

As the exchange does not provide RTH-based daily bars, the only way we can then create this data on the platform side itself is with data of a smaller granularity.
