Resetting your instruments should resolve this item.

To reset your instruments, please take the steps below:
    • First, disconnect from any data providers by navigating to the Control Center > Connections menu, and left-click on “disconnect” that appears to the right when hovering your mouse over any active connection
    • Next, reset your instruments by navigating to the Control Center > Tools > Database Management
    • In the Database Management window, under the “Update instruments” section, ensure that “General properties”, "Futures expiries" and “Symbol mappings” options are checked and then click Update
    • Lastly, restart NinjaTrader for the changes to occur

    Adding New Futures Conract

I followed the instructions as per the recorded video above by Jessica. I currently have NQ 03-18 on my instrument list. I then changed NQ 03-18 to NQ 06-18, hit enter and I'm getting a message saying 'Invalid Instrument". Please advise.

Since that video may not have answered your question, it may be that you were wondering how to update this in your futures list. I've gone ahead and prepared another video where I demonstrate this as well.

If neither of those answers your question, I would like to encourage you to send an e-mail to platformsupport[at]ninjatrader[dot]com referencing this thread's ID, t=92298 . One of our specialists will be able to help you more directly.
When I put up a new GC 04-18 chart it still shows data from my GC 02-18 chart. Also when I change the date in the upper left on my GC 02-18 chart to try and roll the contract over manually as per video it still shows GC 02-18 prices.

    Hello simpletrades,

I have submitted a feature request to the product management team for the following feature :

This customer would like the ability to modify price endpoints on all drawn objects on a chart to match changes when rolling over.
I will follow up with more information as soon as it's available. If the feature requests already exists, a vote will be added to it.

    Hello outsource,

I will leave your post up in case a member of the community is able to help convert your indicator to NinjaTrader 8. So that posts like this are more useful to other community members I would like to ask that we start new threads for these kinds of requests in the future. I was unable to locate an indicator with the same name on our forums.

Please let us know if there are any other ways we can help.

on ninja 7 i just switched from CL march to april but had to adjust all my support/resistance lines manually by adding the spread between current price Thurs morning on the 2 months.
Was there a way to automatically make the support/resist lines i had step up on the move?
I didn't think there was but the term 'roll' implies otherwise.

Thank you for your question tulanch. For the time being, the method I presented in the video is the recommended way to add pinned futures with specified expiries to your list. You may also visit Tools -> Instrument Lists to create a more traditional NT7 default instruments list.

The feature I believe you are looking for is available through Tools -> Database Management. This tool, when completely implemented, will automatically roll over all expiries in all open windows. This tool is not yet mature. An announcement will be made in the release notes page, http://ninjatrader.com/support/helpG...ease_notes.htm , when this feature is mature enough to be the recommended method.

    I have version 8.0.2.0

I am having issues doing the ES roll over for the first time in NT8. I don't seem to have as much control over this as I did with NT7. It appears your intentions are to make this more automated. Me, I switch when the volume moves...it tends to be on the date, but I have see it be off a day.

I was able to follow the video listed in this thread by Jessica to get ES 03-17 to appear on my charts. But I suspect that is more of a work around approach rather than the intended way to do this.

I first tried to use Tools->Instrument Lists. I did not and still do not see ES 03-17 as an available futures contracts under the Futures listing. I do see ES 12-16. I also see other 03-17 contracts such as YM and NQ, just not ES.

Furthermore, when I used Tools->Database and click the Rollover button, ES 03-17 was not listed.
Same thing, I saw 03-17 for YM, NQ and others, just not ES

What is the intended way way to do a roll over with NT8?

I have prepared a short video in which I demonstrate an easy way to get other futures contracts onto your recent and pinned lists.

Once an instrument is selected, if you then visit your futures list, you will see an option to add the currently selected instrument to it.

Please let us know if there are any other ways we can help.
