Getting NT7 historical data into NT8

I used NT8 in Beta for a little while, so I did the initial install and imported by NT7 database.

Then I stopped using NT8 in Beta, and went back to NT7.

Now I want to get back on NT8, but I want to re-import my NT7 historical database, to make sure that I have all of my NT7 data.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling NT8 but that didn't work.

What can I do?

Close NT8.

Remove or rename NT8 config.xml file.

Restart NT8.

You can edit the config file to cause it to import NT7 data on start up . It says something like Migration= 1 or 0 or no or something like that.

Maybe a moderator could detail the exact procedure

if you feel comfortable editing the config.xml file, you can remove the line that lists:

<MigratedNT7></MigratedNT7>

I am unsure what value would be needed to force a migration without removing the tag, but you can remove the line mentioned above, then start the platform and it should show the dialog. Ensure the platform is exited before editing the config file. The config file is located in the Documents/NinjaTrader 8 folder.

If you do not want to edit the file, removing the config will also work but would lose settings.

Thanks. I just renamed the Config file, restarted NT8, and was prompted to do the migration. Restored the old Config file and I was good to go.
