how to set up a workspace for a futures contract not front month?

I was listening to a webinar on NT 8 last week sometime and the person giving it said that there was a glitch in NT 8 which made it difficult to create a workspace for a futures contract that is not the front month.
I've gone over the help files and can't find anything that explicitly explains how to do this.
Can someone explain how to do this?

I open a new workspace, open a ES 06-17 chart, which is not the front month, save the workspace, and close down the workspace then reopen it. I do not see any issue with saving a workspace with back month contracts.

Are you having an issue with this? If so, what is the issue exactly.

OK, so the question was, how does one create a workspace that is not the front month? The "issue" I'm having with it is I can't figure out how to do it.

Hello Tasuki,

A workspace contains charts which display a contracts price data.

If you wanted to display a chart of a back month you would want to go to Tools>Options>Market Data and set Global Merge Policy to DoNotMerge. This will prevent NinjaTrader from stringing together previous contracts and allow you to display the price data of that specific contract without issue.

Then you would open a chart>File>New and select the instrument or type in an existing chart, ES 06-17 for example which would display June ES which is currently not the front month.
