New Install Not Working

Hi, I recently got a new hard drive with a fresh install of Windows 10 Home. I have attempted to install Ninjatrader 8 both 8.0.3.0 and 8.0.2.0 and they both have the same issue. Both 32 and 64 bit

When I try to open them I get a .NET Runtime error and a Windows Application error. I have all the latest Windows updates and have also tried to update .NET but it says I have the latest version.

As an independent test, I upgraded my Win10 32bit Home system from NT8B10 to NT8.0.3.0.

No problems.

I did notice, when launching NT8 for the first time, there is some extra steps that happen... a windows installer box pops up and says NT is configuring and goes through the progress bar several times. Do you remember that happening?

This also sounds like your very first NT8 install attempt?

Do you have admin on this computer?

I also have .NET/CLR Version = 4.0.30319.42000/32bit in my NT8 trace file listed.
Registry says I have win10 anniversary update - 394802, .net framework 4.6.2.

Any more information about the computer?

I can't think of anything else, hopefully NT support has some ideas.

I had similar startup errors as well. Does it work if you go directly into the bin folder and start NT from there? That worked for me, but I think the installer is messed up....

I've had it running for many versions. The only thing that's changed on this computer is a new hard drive. Everything else runs perfectly.

Also to note, I've repeated the install about four times now (twice on both versions, i'm on the 5th install now) with the same results. I've also tried installing in a different folder.

No log or trace files have been generated. The crash happens immediately before NT has a chance to run.

Are you able to start NinjaTrader 8 in safe mode? To enable safe mode, please use the following steps:

Hold the CONTROL key and double click the NinjaTrader icon.
Keep the CONTROL key held down until you see the Control Center.
You can verify you are in safe mode by going to Help -> About.

Solved

I was able to get it to working.

I deleted everything NT related I could find. Then reinstalled .NET framework. Then downloaded NT and new install worked.

I ran the .NET framework repair tool and it did not find any problems, so I'm not sure if that was the cause or if it was a corruption in the NT install. Either way it's fine now and I'm happy again.
