    Bar timer question

I used to use bar timer on NT7 to see how much time left till the bar completes.

So i used the same in NT8 as well,
but for some reason the bar timer for all timeframes
are displayed as a countdown of 15:50:xx.

Which i have no idea why and doesnt seem to have any setting in the bar timer as well?

Another issue is that the bar timer constantly displaying that i am not connected to a data provider when i am already connected.

Any idea the reason for the problem?

    thanks

    Hello Shienri,

    Thank you for your post,

Today we released an update to NinjaTrader 8, which may help address your issue as fixes for the Bar Timer were implemented, see our Release Notes at the link below.

    http://ninjatrader.com/support/helpG...s/?8_0_4_0.htm

Please update at your convenience using the steps below:

    * First get your license key from NinjaTrader under Help> License Key then exit NinjaTrader
    * Click on the link: http://ninjatrader.com/PlatformDirect
    * Enter your license key and press Submit
    * Select 'NinjaTrader 8'

    * Select 'Download'
    * Critical: Before running the installer, ensure NinjaTrader is closed.

If you do see the same behavior on the updated version, please let me know the following so we may best assist:

Who are you connected to? This is displayed in green on lower left corner of the Control Center window.

What instrument (and expiry if applicable) have you selected?

(For a chart) what interval is selected?

What Trading Hours template is in use? To check, right click on the chart > Data Series > Trading Hours.

Do you receive an error on screen? Are there errors on the Log tab of the Control Center? If so, what do these errors report?

We look forward to assisting further.

        Thank you for your reply,

To confirm, are you seeing this on Daily charts?

What does the bar timer report on minute charts if not?

What time zone is your PC set to? Also, what are you regional settings?

I think i have some errors in my regional and time zone setting,
so after changing it, the min charts looks ok.

the 5 and 15 min is ok

but the 240 says "bar timer waiting for realtime data before starting" though

does bar timer works for daily chart and above?

          thanks

            Hello S

            Thank you for your reply,

I am seeing the message briefly when initially opening charts, however when the next real-time tick is received, the bartimer does begin ticking.

To test this, I enabled Chart Trader via the top chart tool bar. Under the ATM Strategy menu, can you please verify that the 240-minute chart is receiving real-time bids/asks?

If they are static, try closing down any additional ZF 03-17 charts or windows that are actively receiving data ZF data while monitoring the 240-minute bids/asks. If this helps, this may be due to a performance issue.

We look forward to assisting further.

              Hi Eric,

I am using the direct edition,
so i cant actually use the chart trader.

i am using the 240 as a reference,
so the bar timer isnt too essential for me on the 240.

by performance issue you mean the pc processing
              is insufficient?

              thanks for the help

                Thank you for your reply,

It may be, NinjaTrader 8 is able to make multiple data requests at once, and the data processes per-instrument. So if there are multiple charts for the same instrument, and some or one isn't receiving data, closing additional windows for the same instrument can help free up the loading.
