    Unhandled exception causing NT8 to freeze and crash

    Hello,

    I'm getting the following error (from my log file):

    "Unhandled exception: '{DependencyProperty.UnsetValue}' is not a valid value for property 'Background'."

    This error then continues to loop, until memory usage builds and NT8 stops responding and I have to force close it.

    I've got the log files ready to send. I also have the dump file from the NT8 application.

    Do you see the same behavior in safe mode?

    So we can further diagnose your system, please start NinjaTrader in Safe Mode.
    Safe Mode will prevent NinjaTrader from:
    • Loading workspaces.
    • Connecting on start-up.
    • Loading custom assemblies.
    • Getting instrument updates from the server.

    To enable safe mode, please use the following steps:
    • Exit NinjaTrader.
    • Hold the CONTROL key and double click the NinjaTrader icon.
    • Keep the CONTROL key held down until you see the Control Center.
    • You can verify you are in safe mode by going to Help -> About.

      I've now started NT8 in safe-mode - no, I no longer see that error.

      [I should add, that prior to starting it in safe mode, I was unable see/click on the control panel upon starting NT8]

      After closing NT8 in safe mode, and then restarting as normal, It seems to be stuck again. This time in the log file it's stuck at:

      "restoring workspace.."

      Edit:

      I then force closed NT8 again, restarted it normally again, and it seems to be working.
      I can see in the log files that there is no error that is occurring.

      Any thoughts on what went wrong? Would you still like me to send through log files?

        Unfortunately I'm still have multiple crashes of Ninjatrader.

        I believe it's related to SS orders.

        When I place an SS order, I'm now getting the following error.

        unhandled exception: (DependencyProperty.UnsetValue) is not a valid value for property 'Background'.

        This is now occurring each time I submit an SS order, and It still is entered into the DOM and performs correctly.

          Please write into PlatformSupport[AT]NinjaTrader[DOT]com with your log and trace files so we can further investigate.

          In the body of the email please include a link to this forum thread and reference ticket #1685437 ATTN Patrick G

          Please follow the steps below to manually attach your log and trace files:
          Open your NinjaTrader folder under Documents.
          Right click on the 'log' and 'trace' folders and select Send To> Compressed (zipped) Folder.
          Send the 2 compressed folders as attachments to your email
          Once complete, you can delete these compressed folders.
