Gap in 60 minute chart, but not 30 minute chart

    Gap in 60 minute chart, but not 30 minute chart

    Hi,

    I am looking at the USDCAD chart on the 60 minute chart, and there is a gap of missing data between 19/04/17 00:00 and 16:00. I have attached a screenshot.

    When I switch to the 30 minute chart, the data is all there. Why is this happening and is there a resolution for it?

    Thank you for your post.

    So that I may attempt to replicate the issue please answer the following:

    What data provider are you connected to?

    Have you adjusted the trading hours in the 'Data Series' menu? If so, what is it set to?

      The Trading Hours field is set to <Use Instrument Settings> and the data feed is from FXCM I believe. I am trialling NT8 for the first time and they provided 30 days of free data. Thanks!

        Thank you for your reply.

        Using an FXCM demo I was able to pull up a chart with no gaps, there are a couple steps that may be necessary to retrieve the full data.

        To reset your instruments, please take the steps below.

        First, disconnect from any data providers by navigating to the Control Center > Connections menu, and left-click on “disconnect” that appears to the right when hovering your mouse over any active connection
        Next, reset your instruments by navigating to the Control Center > Tools > Database Management
        In the Database Management window, under the “Update instruments” section, ensure that “General properties”, "Futures expiries" and “Symbol mappings” options are checked and then click Update
        Lastly, restart NinjaTrader for the changes to occur
        If this doesn't work please reset your database:

        Please follow the instructions below to reset the NinjaTrader database.

        Disconnect NinjaTrader from any open connections via File > Disconnect
        From the NinjaTrader Control Center window select the menu Tools > Database
        Press "Reset DB"
        Check Historical Orders to remove historical orders
        Check Historical Trades to remove historical trades
        Press the "Reset" button

        Please let us know if the issue persists past this point.

          That fixed it

          Thanks, following your instructions resolved the issue. Future expiry was not checked. I checked it, hit update, and then restarted NT. When I re-opened, the gap was gone. But looking back at the Future expiry checkbox, it is unchecked again. Is that normal for that to be unchecked, and if not, what do I need to do differently to ensure it remains checked? Upon exiting I saved my workspace but didn't otherwise see any other option to save changes.

            Thank you for your reply.
            I'm glad resetting did the trick. As far as the 'Future Expiries' option is concerned, this only affects futures trading and will have no correlation to Forex. It is also expected that that box is unchecked unless otherwise specified by the user.

            Moving forward if the issue returns please be sure to write into [email protected] so we can set up a remote support session and further analyze the scenario.
