    6E "instrument settings"?

If you've got a chart of the 6E and you keep the default of "Use Instrument Settings" for "Trading Hours" in Data Settings, what exactly ARE the instrument settings for the 6E? And while I'm at it, how do you find out what the "instrument settings" are for any contract you're trading?
    Thanks,
    Tasuki

    Hello ,

    Thank you for your post,

When "< Use instrument settings>" is selected, NinjaTrader uses the hours that are defined in the instrument itself. To find this, go to Tools > Instrument > Search an instrument and select by double-clicking > see Trading Hours. For 6E, this would be the "CME FX Futures ETH" Trading hours template by default.

You can then see details about the template via Tools > Trading Hours > Select from the left list.

Let us know if we may assist further.

UTC minus 6 same as UTC minus 8?

      Thanks, Eric.
I went to Tools/Trading Hours and checked out CME FX Futures ETH, and found that my default setting was set to Central USA time of UTC minus 6 (see attachment 1), Well, I live in sunny California, so I changed the setting to Pacific Time, which is UTC minus 8 and hit "apply" (see attachment 2). Imagine my surprise when the start and end times didn't change! In UTC minus 6, it says the start time is 5:00 pm on a Sunday and the end time is 4:00 pm on a Monday. Shouldn't that time change when you're trading from a different time zone? Clearly I'm missing something here. Please explain.

        Thank you for your reply,

The Trading Hours template controls the time settings the data uses in charts or elsewhere. Because of this, the time zone is the time zone where the instrument is traded considering your time zone and using the hours listed.

If you locate the Trading hours break line in your chart (if needed, you can enable via right clicking on the chart > Data Series > Visual section), you will likely see this has moved to 5:00 PM your time. Prior to this, using Central time will make it so your charts display the session end at 3:00 PM, charting the data accounting for the time zone difference.

See the below section of our help guide for more on Trading Hours.

We look forward to assisting further.
