Strategy and ATM

Do strategies communicate with the ATM? Like can your strategy only have a long and short entry and let the ATM through Chart Trader manage the position? And if there is a call to reverse will the strategy be able to cancel open stop and target orders through the ATM too?

Or is it better to have the stop and target logic in the strategy itself?

Thanks for your post.

From a NinjaScript strategy it is possible to use ATM strategies to manage your positions, but it will be very different from the way the 'Managed Approach' to strategy building works.

The benefit of such an approach is that you can use the NinjaScript strategy to generate automated entry signals and once entered, you can delegate exit management to an ATM strategy which allows you a degree of manual control over how to close out of a trade.

Thank you. So when the strategy calls for a reversal who takes precedence? The ATM will close all open positions and orders and reverse or ignore the reverse strategy order and wait till a stop or target is hit? Or that needs to be specified in the strategy?

And what if I use the strategy just to enter trades and use the ATM manually to manage trades after a strategy entry? In that case will the strategy do anything if an entry comes along or the ATM takes precedence? This is if I do not use any ATM script in the strategy.

The purpose of using the ATM Strategy methods is so that your entry is automated but you have that degree of manual control that an ATM strategy provides.

If you do not use the ATM Strategy methods in your strategy you will not be able to use your ATM Strategy with the automated strategy.
