Historical Data

I only have access to 1 year of historical data on Ninjatrader via a FXCM live account. They're saying that's because I only have a free NT account. Can you cofirm thi to be true?

Thanks for your post.

In general I would expect the following from NinjaTrader 8 Historical data servers.

Tick data: deleted after 360 days
Minute data: virtually never deleted, goes back to 2006 (forex back to late 2008)
Daily data: virtually never deleted, goes back to 2009 (forex back to 2006)


What kind of data are you looking at? ie. Minute, Second, Tick, etc.

What instrument?

Inside the Connections window for the FXCM account, do you have "NinjaTrader historical data server" checked?

I'm probably in need of tick data on account of using Range bars to backtest. The specific instrument in question is USOIL, a CFD, but ideally I'll need the data for a number of other CFD charts going back 10 years. If you have a solution it would be seriously appreciated

Yes to the last question, Historical data server box is ticked.

I see that we store CFD data going back to 9/9/2013 on our servers, so you would need to locate that data elsewhere to go back 10 years.

That's fine, since 2013 would be extremely useful nonetheless. Are you saying I should have access to this already, or will I need to downlaod it from somewhere?

EDIT: Upon further investigation it looks like there is only about a year of tick data for CFDs going back to 07/17. I am making a note of it for future reference.
Maybe someone else on the forum has a recommendation for sourcing this historical data.

Ok, thanks for that update. With any luck someone will have some recomendations, in the meantime I'll check out some alternative options and repost here if anything is found.
