Kagi-based Strategy

Hi

I would like to try a Strategy strictly based at the Kagi bar type, buying or selling when the signal line changes color.

It sees the Strategy Builder does not support Bar types as inputs ...? Is there anyway around this without coding?

I think a Kagi-based indicator, would be able to trick the Strategy Analyzer provided the reversals would be available as inputs, so Strategy Builder can use them.

Note: I have found feature requests in this Forum, asked by users, to have Bars included as inputs for the Strategy Analyzer, but it seems this has not being delivered by development, so far.

Thank you for your post.

In NinjaTrader 7 or 8 there is no exposed value for Kagi bars that you could call to find out if the color changed.

However, you could look at the code for the Kagi bars and create an indicator that detects what the Kagi Chart Style detects, then use that in a strategy.

You can go to the NinjaTrader Control Center > New > NinjaScript > Editor > ChartStyles > KagiStyle to view the code for that bar type. You can then create a new indicator and incorporate some of the calculations in that.
