    Strategy firing too early

    I
'm having a problem with a strategy; the entry is triggering too soon. I have my hours reduced to the traditional pit times 0900-1500 and am using an EMA crossover. I have set minimum bars to trade at 20 but what happens is as soon as the trading hours turn on at 0900 I get a cross over from the data from the day before and a trade triggers. How do I keep this from happening? I want the strategy to wait for the specified bars to establish a trend from todays data and not be influnced by yesterdays.

    Hello GMiller64,

    Thank you for your note.

Would you be able to provide an example of your entry logic?

Minimum bars to trade will only apply at the very beginning of your chart. This is in reference to how much data you need to have loaded for your strategy to refer to. This is not reset each new trading day on the chart.

Thanks in advance; I look forward to assisting further.

Ah, I thought the minimum bars to trade was a daily reset. How then would I limit the trades to stay within the trading hours?

I think I figured it out with another search of the forum. I'm going to use a time comparison to limit my trades to specific hours then let the chart run all the time. This should limit my crossover to just the average bars specified and they'll be the ones right up to my trading time as opposed to jumping from the day before. Thank you for the response and all the help I've gotten.

          Hello GMiller64,

          Thank you for your reply.

A time comparison would be exactly what I would suggest in your case. Please let us know if you run into any issues, we're happy to help.

Please let us know if we may be of further assistance to you.
