How to know Computer Requirements for Automated Strategies

Hi!

I want to know which VPS to use to put my NT8 platform, with a 3rd party add on and also a custom automated strategy.

The thing is that I know the minimum requirements for the NT8 platform and for the 3rd party add on, but I do not know if the strategy (based in the 3rd party add on) will need more RAM, Cores etc (i.e. if for having the add on plus a custom strategy I may need more than the minimum requirements).

Do you think that, if I have the requirements for the add on, will those be enough to support the custom strategy which is based in the add on data?

Or, could I need more? How could I know that?

Welcome to the forums, and thanks for opening the thread!

While we do have recommended PC specs for NinjaTrader 8, using NinjaScripts and other 3rd party add-ons can add to the system requirement.

As each add-on can vary in complexity and users can use numerous add-ons, there are not any accurate specifications that we can provide. That said, the mentioned recommended settings are usually enough for using some more complex add-ons.

I would suggest to monitor the Windows Task Manager to observe the resources that you need to operate what you need to, and then to look at hardware for your VPS based on what is utilized on your desktop.

First get an idea on your local machine. Wallst has some crazy that strategy that eats 98% of his cpu all the time.
My strategy is barely a blip in cpu resources and very low memory usage.


So Start out small and go next level up if it doesn't work.
Or go medium and adjust from there.

Okey! Thank you for both answers.

I will first check out how it performs in my PC (with the Windows Task Manager, as you said) so as to get the info about the resources that the platforms plus the adds on consume and then, with that info I will select the best fit VPS.
