VXN is not available to add in the instrument list.

Thank you for the question.

The NDX is an instrument that is included within the Default NinjaTrader Instrument Library.

Please go to the Control Center > Tools > Database Management

• Expand the 'Update Instruments' section > Check the boxes next to "General properties", "Future expiries", and "Symbol mappings" > Click Update

You should now be able to click into the Instrument selector and type "NDX" on your keyboard and then double-click the appropriate result to load in the chart.

Two parts to answer this.

1) . Search in the forum or with Google to find the detailed forum posts on how to add your own instruments.. Sort of like this.

2). The often more challenging part is to ensure your Data Provider actually supplies that index symbol.

I use CQG but have seen anything that implies they offer the symbol. For example https://ninjatrader.com/CQGSupportedIndexes

I think he is in effect trying to submit an Enhancement request, asking for NT to work with Data Provider partners to add VXN to the Data Packages offered through NT8.
