No fixed hotkeys. Just like in any modern application, it should be possible to associate any kind of action provided by NT with a hotkey. Customizable by the user.

Oh...and as a workaround for those looking for hotkeys:

Have a look at AutoIt (http://www.autoitscript.com/) - it's a free utility to create hotkeys for any kind of key combinations and mouse movements.

I just use a laptop and trading 1 instrument...

so I don't think it'll be a problem...

NT can have multiple monitors hanzahar. Just drag whatever window you want onto your other monitors. Put charts, DOMs, anything anywhere you want.

I'd like to add my voice in support of hotkeys...

What I'd like is the ability to define hotkeys for the functions within Chart Trader, maybe in the properties window. So I could hit "b" to buy bid, "c" to close etc.

Obviously the orders should go to whichever chart is currently in focus.

Another hotkey in the DOM could allow the user to adjust the size of the next trade automatically to your current position (usefull in case of partial execution before).

I agree with NinjaJorge for configurable hotkeys.

how about hotkey keymapping capability

Instead of trying to figure out all the various hotkeys we want, allow us to define our own. For example, any command I can issue from the Control Center I'd like to be able to create my own custom keymap for a hotkey. And this would also allow capability to override existing defined ones if one so chooses (although you should be nice and prompt user that they are about to redefine an existing keymap which is assigned - and let us know what that definition is).

An example, I run Realtime/Historical Strategy Performance runs quickly on charts alot. And its become a nuisance to click thru so many times in menus. I'd love to define a kemap of CTRL-ALT-S for instance that points to menu command of Strategy Performance-> Historical & Real-time when I have a specific strategy selected within the Strategies tab.

Anyways, that is what I would wish for most and would give the ultimate customization for us power users. Its similar to how Macs allow for custom keymaps to be defined for any command across all apps, and how many other trading platforms allow for custom defined keymaps (AmiBroker comes to mind for example).

Years go by

I think it was somewhere in 2004 or 2005 when I first asked for Hotkeys-ability for shooting a simple "Buy/Sell Market" or similar in NT.

Since then, tons of "Thanks for the suggestion. We will add it to the list of future considerations" were answered from NT-guys - but nothing happened.

If NT is soooo unable to fullfill the needs of active daytraders (or better, scalpers) - why can't the NT-guys at least be honest and tell us WHY they cannot add such a tiny feature - instead of lying time after time year after year?
