Bug when changing Period Type settings using Toolbar

    Hello,

In NT 7 v.2, I found a bug using period templates.

Basically, when you save a period template and apply it using the Toolbar menu, it does not work. However, the template is applied correctly when using keystrokes.

    To duplicate the problem:
    • Load any instrument onto a Daily chart using the default settings
    • Open the Data Series menu to edit the 'Day' Period Type template
    • Change "Load data based on" to Bars from Days.
    • Change "Bars to Load" to 1000 from 50
    • Right click and select "Set Default for 'Day' Period Type"
    • Click OK
    • Change period using the Toolbar menu to Weekly
    • Change period back to Daily using Toolbar menu - you will see it will load up 365 Days of data, irrespective of your previously set 'Day' settings.
    • Now change period to Weekly again
    • Change period back to Daily using the 1D keystroke combination - you will see that your 1000-bar settings for the Day period will be applied correctly.
    • Conclusion: Applying Period Type settings with the Toolbar does not work.
    Thanks,

      Hello,

Unfortunately I was unable to reproduce the issue on my end. Please use the steps below to delete your current Day Chart Series Template.
      • Documents
      • NinjaTrader 7
      • Templates
      • Chart Series
      • Delete Day.xml

Please let me know if you are then able to reproduce the issue again on your end.

Yes, after deleting the template and going through the steps I described, I still get the same problem.

Please try to reproduce it on your end again.

You will see that when you switch from Weekly to Daily using the Toolbar menu (not the keystrokes), the data actually loaded is 365 Days (i.e. going back to 01-Feb-2010), irrespective of what the Edit Data Series pop-up window says (which actually shows the correct settings of the newly created template). If you now go back to Weekly and then reload the Daily chart using the keystroke combination (i.e. "1D") you will get the correct results (i.e. 1000 bars).

If you want, I can send you the screenshots so you can see what I get.

Ideally, let's try not to spend too much time on this. Thanks again.

I see as far as the bars that load changes back to 365 days however in the Data Series window it continues to show 1000 bars. I will forward this to our develpment team and will follow up as soon as I gather additional information.

I have heard back from our development team and this will be resolved in the next release NinjaTrader 7.0.1000.3.

Thank you for reporting this issue.
