7.0.1000.6 Red X for graphs in SA when using Remote Desktop

    Hi,

I run optimizations while accessing my machine through a Remote Desktop session. If I click the Graphs tab to view the Cumulative Profit graph and minimize the Remote desktop session window while NT recomputes the results, when I bring it up again I get the red X in the graph window. I see this exception in the trace log:

    2011-06-02 12:53:12:181 in OnUnhandledThreadException

    nailz420,

    Thank you for your post.

Do you experience the same issue with any of the default strategies such as the SampleMACrossovers strategy? Please again with the sample strategy and see if you experience further issues.

In addition, can you clarify what version of NinjaTrader you are using, NT V7.0.1000.6? You can check this under Help--> About.

Edit: Apologize, I see you included the version number in the title of this thread.

      Hello nailz420,

We have received word from development that this is a limiation introduced by remote desktop and the .NET runtime.

Unfortunately, there is not a workaround for this issue at this time.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can do for you.

When this happens the whole application becomes unstable. Would it be possible to make it fail more gracefully? I don't want to tell you how to do your job but maybe have NT catch this particular exception and force a reload of the part that failed or make it possible to restart the SA to have the graph working again or have the act of switching graphs in SA reload/reinit the failed part of the code?

        Thanks,
        Tim
