Thank you for your post.

The RegressionChannel can update live by setting it's CalculateOnBarClose parameter to False when you right click in the Chart > select Indicators > and then CalculatOnBarClose for your RegressionChannel that's already on the chart.

The starting point for your RegressionChannel is set via the Period in the Indicator parameters. However there is no option to set a fixed starting point for the RegressionChannel and this is what you are looking for here correct?

Here is another video looking at length of swing with the regression channel...one can see how valuable it would be to be able to plot a regression channel from a fixed point into the future based upon length of swing or perhaps any user defined cycle...and then observe how the regression channel plays out as your future target is approached...

There could be a vertical marker at the target (with an flexible alert set X seconds before the target)....the user may elect for the channel to plot beyond the target if desired. Several optional length markers may perhaps be set by by the user...

Ninja says they are "Architects of Electronic Innovation"...
and yet the existing regression channel is simply old boilerplate that does nothing...
Ninja needs to improve its offering here (and in other draw tools) to meet their standard of creative innovation...

Additional Thoughts...

See screenshot below...as an option to graphically placing regression channel copies by hand, one could elect to automatically chain a selected number of channel copies as the chart develops.

...Final Thoughts...??..

When Ninja develops this suggestion as a replacement for the existing regression channel in draw tools...it could be good to be able to divide the initial regression line (and copies) into user defined segments of perhaps say 0.382, 0.5 and 0.618 for example...these would be shown as quite short vertical markers on the regression line and would plot into the future.

The existing regression channel is so unfortunate....in that one can only look at past events and not plot to future targets.....time for some much needed creative innovation here....

...Another Example...

Here is a good example of another way that would work well if one could plot the regression channel into the future...in the first screen shot below a number of trend channel tool examples have been set up...in the second screen shot a regression channel was applied to each trend channels parallel line (possible when one can plot this into the future)....you can see that the applied regression channels will often call close to both price and time at the right end of the parallel lines.

In my view... the Ninja draw tools should represent the best possible ideas for each tool...

Mulling it over....

Been mulling something over...there now is a tracking number assigned to this suggestion below...

In the last 10 years have had only one suggestion from me implemented in Ninja out of a number of pretty good suggestions (currently an approximate total of 15 tracking numbers are assigned to some of my suggestions)....the one suggestion actually implemented was the Trend Chanel tool...

Apparently the odds of having a user suggestion implemented in Ninja are currently very low to non existent...wonder if Ninja is limiting the number of ideas from users proposed for Ninja when the odds of actually getting something done are close to non existent ??...

Is Ninja planning on an epiphany in this area...??....for me it is getting to be kinda like why bother to suggest anything for Ninja...the current tracking numbers seem like where (good) ideas go to expire....it is not as though Ninja could not be improved in some areas...

For quite some time updates to NinjaTrader 7 have been for maintenance only with our connectivity providers.

All suggestions are being reviewed for possible implementation in NinjaTrader 8.

With that said there have been suggestions to create a suggestion tracker internally, but this may not be available until after NinjaTrader 8 is released.

NinjaTrader 8 is developments top priority right now however there is no release date available for it at this time.
