    Internationalization

I notice that the NinjaTrader Support Forum and NinjaTrader communications display dates in MM-DD-YYYY format. That's fine if the standard date format one uses is this. But for much of the world, other date formats are used.

For example, recent postings to the forum are dated "05-04-2015" representing 04 May 2015. However, for much of the world that represents 05 April 2015.

Whilst it is nearly impossible to accommodate all formats in use, it is possible to do one or other of two things to make the dates truly international, understandable and unambiguous:
    • Convert them to YYYY-MM-DD format ... ... OR
    • Use the local regional settings of the user's PC account to display accordingly

This approach is relevant (dare I say, necessary) for all dates in the NinjaTrader Ecosystem, platform and brokerage domains -- all communications, documentation, implementations.

The following ISO standard is also relevant: ISO 8601:2004 Data elements and interchange formats -- Information interchange -- Representation of dates and times

I strongly urge NinjaTrader to adopt and implement one or other of the approaches recommended above in all areas.

    Many thanks!

Hi jeronymite, thanks for your post.

NinjaTrader, both 7 and 8, are designed at their very core to be based upon local PC time settings for all functionality regarding time. Any other behavior would not conform to NinjaTrader design standards and would be considered a bug.

The forum's handling of time is based upon the behavior of the underlying forum software. Our ability to change this is limited, and because of this we will likely be unable to change the date format as you mentioned.

Ecosystem events and communications are hard coded to use the US datetime format. Because of this, they cannot be changed, currently.

At this point, I would not for the forseeable future expect to see changes causing time reporting across these three areas to match up with one another.
