    Chart Header Include Chart Name

I request that the name of the chart template be displayed on the chart and the following routines be implemented to resolve the various issues that are created by displaying chart names.

Displaying the chart template name is very important, given that when I go to save the existing chart being displayed to a chart template after some changes, the question often arises, which chart template am I working on. It is easy to save over the wrong chart template. Chart template names have not been used to-date because displaying them creates issues as to what to do if a change is made to an existing chart, along with other issues.

The following routine(s) will resolve the various issues that crop up with saving and displaying a chart name.

1.) In the upper left corner of the chart where the instrument name is in a drop down box, e.g., “ES 12-10”, move that drop down box over to the right and where the instrument name drop down box currently resides, add a drop down box which displays the chart template name, limited to so many letters. When the drop down box is selected, a full list of all existing chart templates is displayed with the full names, and the user may select any one in the list to become the active template superimposed on the Instrument. This functions the same way as "Template", "Load" currently functions, and is not meant to replace "Template", "Load", but rather be another way to load Templates.

2.) When a New Chart is created in NT, at the first time the user is given the option to select “OK”, the save a new chart routine runs, which gives the user the option to save the new chart as a template, e.g., “MyTemplateXYZ”. This functions the same way as "Template", "Save As" currently functions. If No is selected, the chart is opened with the “Empty” name in the chart name and the chart displayed is NT’s “Empty” chart template. If “Cancel” is selected the new chart is deleted.

3.) At the time a new indicator is added to NT’s “Empty” chart, or an existing chart template, e.g. “MyTemplateXYZ”, the first time the user has the option of selecting "OK", "Close" or "Cancel" the following routine runs. "OK" and "Close" are treated the same as describe in paragraph No. 2, above. (The user is given the option to save the new chart as a template, e.g., “MyTemplateXYZ”. This functions the same way as "Template", "Save As" currently functions.)

"Cancel" saves the chart as a “Temp#” and if already a “Temp#”, e.g., “Temp1”, writes over “Temp1”, and displays that name in the chart template name. The first “Temp#” name would be “Temp1”, the next “Temp2”, and so on. There can be up to 10 Temp# charts on the active workspace (or some other limit). Temp# charts allow the user to use an existing chart template as a base and then modify it and save the resulting chart over an existing chart or create a brand new chart template. Temp# charts are not saved to workspaces and are discarded when NT is closed or a new workspace is opened. When an existing workspace is active with Temp# charts in the workspace, and the user attempts to save the existing workspace, create a new workspace or exit NT, a routine pops up that notifies the user that the active workspace has Temp# charts open that will be permanently deleted unless saved do you wish to continue? If “Yes” is selected, the action proceeds without saving the Temp# charts. If “No” is selected, the save, create new, or exit NT action is canceled and the user is put back to the active workspace with the “Temp#” Charts so that the “Temp#” charts may be saved or deleted.

4.) A “Temp#” chart may be saved to a Template, using the existing routine for saving a Chart Template in NT.

I believe the above routines address all the issues that would be encountered with displaying chart template names on charts.

    Thanks for considering the above.
