    Export/Import Add-on problems

    Hi

I would like to export a protected add-on.

    1) Custom Indicator A (which is using multiple other custom indicators B, C, D and some standard indicators (Bollinger, Stochastics, etc.)
    2) Custom Strategy E (which is using Custom Indicator A, as well as some standard indicators)

Let's assume I want to export this add-on so it can be used by another user which does not have any of these Custom Indicators or Custom Strategy:

What do I have to include in the export?
    a) Do I have to select ALL my custom indicators?
    b) Do I have to select only the ones that should be used on a standalone basis (let's say A and E)

The problems I so far had when I tried was that it will not install the add-on for a user which already has any of the custom indicators on its machine.

Could you please let me know the best-practice to export add-ons by highlighting what is automatically exported (all underlying indicators which are used by the strategy), which I should manually select, if the standard indicators would even have to be renamed, etc.

So far I have not been able to successfully export and import.

    Thanks

    Hello whotookmynickname,

    Thank you for your note.

During the export, the wizard should add the additional indicators it references.

If you export a protected addon which has indicator A and B, the user imports it, then you try sending another indicator C, which has B as well as D the user will not be able to import it.

The solution is that you could rename B as part of indicator C's import. So while they will have two of the same indicator, they will be named differently.

Please let us know if this is unclear or you need further assistance.

Thanks for the explanation. I was able to export and import a strategy. Besides importing the strategy, the underlying indicators are now also visible and useable (which was not necessarily intended).

Is it possible to export a strategy, but do not make the underlying indicators visible/usable by the person who imports the add-on?

        Hello,

Thanks for the reply. When you export as a compiled assembly all source code will be compiled into binary in the .dll. Are the .cs files in the export zip full code files or are they just stubs to be used by the dll?

I look forward to your reply.
