    Days to Load help

    Hello,

I am using NT8 with IQFeed as my data vendor. I am trying to load more days back on a 15 and 60 minute chart, but no mater what value I enter in the Data series Window under "Days to Load" I only end up with about 3 days of data. When I go to a daily chart I have several months of data?

How do I get NT to let me load more days back on these higher 15min+ intraday time frames?

    Hello gapsmeister,

Thank you for posting in our forum.

So that I may better assist, can you please provide the following information?

What specific version of NinjaTrader are you using? This can be found under Help -> About (Example: 8.0.12.0)

What instrument (and expiry if applicable) have you selected?

(For a chart) what interval is selected?

Do you receive an error on screen? Are there errors on the Log tab of the Control Center? If so, what do these errors report?

Thank you in advance. I look forward to your reply.

      I am running NT 8.0.11.1 64-bit

Interestingly on futures not giving me a problem NT loads as many days back as I want, but on stocks it does not matter which symbol I type in the result is the same, limits me to about 3 days of data in any time frame intra-day 1min or higher.

I have multiple charts open 4 are linked by symbol with intervals set to 1, 5, 15, 60

I do not see any errors

        Hello gapsmeister,

Thank you for your reply. First off, since there has been a release since you last upgraded, my first suggestion is to upgrade to the newest release of NinjaTrader 8, 8.0.12.0.

To upgrade NinjaTrader, please follow the steps below.

First, copy your license key from NinjaTrader under Help> License Key then exit NinjaTrader
        Click on the link: http://ninjatrader.com/PlatformDirect
Enter your license key and press Submit
        Select 'NinjaTrader 8'
        Select 'Download'
Critical: Before running the installer, ensure NinjaTrader is closed.

Next, please take the steps below to manage your Preferred Connections in NinjaTrader 8.

From the Control Center, click Tools>Options>Market Data
Expand both the "Preferred connections" sections, historical and real-time
Make sure to set both the "Stock" drop down menus to IQFeed.
Additionally, please set your preferred connection for futures data.

After completing the steps above, if your issues persist please let me know.

Well it looks like this problem is not solved.

This morning when I started up NT I clicked on a few different symbols of the Dow 30 in Market Analyzer and noticed the same problem of only a few days data in the 15 Min and 60 min charts from Feb 11 to today even though I have 10 days requested in Data Series.

I tried right clicking on the chart to reload all historical data but the Loading prompt stays on my chart with the dots sequencing waiting for data, with nothing downloading.

I did as requested and downloaded the latest version of NT8 and have IQFeed 5.2.7.0, and have IQFeed selected as preferred for Stocks, Index, and Futures in both Historical and Real Time.

Hello and thank you for your reply.

A reset of your instrument database should resolve this.

To reset your instruments please follow the steps below.

Disconnect from your data feed: NinjaTrader Control Center> File> Disconnect> Select your data feed.
              Reset your Instruments: NinjaTrader Control Center> Tools> Options> Data tab> Reset Instruments>OK.
Restart NinjaTrader> Connect (NinjaTrader Control Center> File> Connect> Select your connection.

If this does not help, please contact IQFeed to find out what kind of historical data should be available for minute-based bars. Please let us know if we may assist again in the future.

Following your instructions I do not see a Data tab in Tools >Options in NT8? I only see "General", "Trading", "Strategies", Automated Trading interface", and "Market Data"

Under Market data I do not see anything that says "Reset Instruments?"

Hello and thanks for your reply.

My mistake: I sent instructions for NT7.

                  Tools>Database management
Check Future expiries and then click Update instruments
                  Close and relaunch NinjaTrader 8.

                  Thank you in advance.

Again followed your instructions but problem is still occurs. It seems the data I loaded yesterday was after the market closed.

I have another software package, and I show 60 min data going back several months so I know this problem is isolated to NT.

Hello, and thank you for your reply. Have you confirmed with IQ Feed that you're enabled for the appropriate data?

                        Hello gapmeister,

If you are still experiencing issues, and have confirmed that this data is available through your IQ Feed connection, please send your log and trace files to platformsupport[at]ninjatrader[dot]com and please reference #1852164.

Open your NinjaTrader folder under My Documents.
Right click on the 'log' and 'trace' folders and select Send To> Compressed (zipped) Folder.
Send the 2 compressed folders as attachments to this email.
Once complete, you can delete these compressed folders.

                        Thank you in advance.
