    custom symbols

I am trying to use NJ(7.0) for simulately trading options. I will feed data of options from Tradestation to NT. I have questions below.

1). What is the rule of making custom symbols for NJ. Is there a limit length of symbol string?
2). Do I have to create a mapping on NJ side for those customer symbols, or just import symbols via a csv file?

    Thanks very much in advance!

    Hello ccl3093,

Symbols have a maximum string length of 50 characters.

To confirm you are pushing real-time data from TradeStation to NinjaTrader using the supplied EasyLanguage files by adding the NTExternalFeed strategy to a chart in TradeStation, is this correct?

Mapping may be needed for the instrument for External data feed.

As a heads up, NinjaTrader does not support options. NinjaTrader supports futures, forex, equities, and indexes.

If I import those custom symbols via a csv file into NT, do I have to do the map on NT end?

      Thank you very much!

        Hello ccl3093,

To confirm you are not going to be pushing real-time data from TradeStation to NinjaTrader?

With a .cvs file this would import as historical data. The symbol must match the file name of the importing file. No symbol mapping would be necessary as no connection is involved.

I will import those custom symbols via a txt file, and then push the real-timie data from TS to NJ. Do I have to create the mapping on NT end?

          Thanks,

            Hello ccl3093,

To import historical data from .txt or .cvs file no symbol mapping is needed.

To received real-time data through the External Data Feed symbol mapping is necessary for each instrument for the External Data Feed connection.

It seems like that you don't understand my questions.

1). I will use a csv file to add those custom symbols to NT
2). I will push real data from TS to NT.

Do I need the mapping on NT end?

              One more question:

3). if I want sending order of trading option from TS to InteractiveBrokers using NT as a bridge, do I need create the mapping on NT end?

              Thank you very much!

                1) "I will use a csv file to add those custom symbols to NT. Do I need the mapping on NT end?"
                - No, when import historical data from .txt or .cvs file no symbol mapping is needed

                2) "I will push real data from TS to NT. Do I need the mapping on NT end?"
-Yes, symbol mapping is necessary for each instrument for the External Data Feed connection.

                3) " if I want sending order of trading option from TS to InteractiveBrokers using NT as a bridge, do I need create the mapping on NT end?"
                - Yes, to place orders through the DLL or the email AT Interface symbol mapping is necessary.

I made the option symbols work under NT 7.0. I send the data of option from tradestation and remove the space in option symbol, and import those symbols into NT7.0. It works very well for simulation.

                  Thanks.
