columns in account information remains at 0

    Hello,

In the Accounts tab, all the columns of my IB account always remains at 0. Only the Display name has the correct information. The columns are all correctly displayed for the paper trading account.
Trades made with the real account are not displayed in the Perf. Report because the account does not appear. Again, no problem with the paper trading account.
Real trades only appears in Positions / Orders / Executions tabs.

It was not really a problem until now because I was doing paper trading but now I use only the live account. So I can't see my stats.

    Thanks for your help,

    Fabrice

The way you're describing the symptoms make it sound like you're logged into NinjaTrader with your Interactive Brokers paper account and not your live account.

Does the live account have a green light to the left in the Control Center's Accounts tab? I suspect only the paper account and any NinjaTrader sim accounts will have a green light to the left. This indicates you're not connected to your live account.

What accounts are you able to see in an order entry window's account drop down list?

Can you confirm what account you're logged into in TWS/Gateway?

Within NinjaTrader for your Interactive Brokers connection, what (if any) login credentials are entered? Is it your paper account or your live account?

      Hello Patrick,

NT is forcebly connected to my live account because I get quotes from it and I have sent orders to my real account. I have currently 1 opened position.

I don't use TWS but only the gateway. TWS is not even installed on the machine.

Yes the live account has the green light. I have 4 accounts: IB, IB paper trading and 2 local fake accounts which I haven't used for months (Sim101 and another one). On the attached picture, the 1st and last connections are the fake accounts. The 2dn is the real account, the 3rd is IB paper trading. The ($2.46) is the fee for having opened 1 position (yesterday) which is still on the market.

In the drop-down list used to select an account for passing an order I can see all the 4 accounts if NT is connected to both IB gateways (real + paper trading). Currently I see 3 accounts because the connection to the paper trading account is off.

I have 2 connections for IB gateway: 1 for the real account, another for the paper trading. Last days I have mainly used only 1 connection (the real one).

      Thanks.

I would expect a live Interactive Brokers account connection to provide most of the values in the Accounts tab columns. More details on what is expected for each provider can be found here:

NinjaTrader 8 - Understanding the Accounts Tab

In your first message, you mention that the value is/was 'always' zero. Does this mean that none of the account info other than PnL has ever populated? If I misunderstand and it had at some point populated, when was that?

Can you visit the Interactive Brokers connectivity check website below and let me know if any of the servers can't be reached? http://www.interactivebrokers.com/cgi-bin/conn_test.pl

When was the last time NinjaTrader was disconnected from your live account? If you disconnect and reconnect, do values appear?

I confirm that most of the columns in the Accounts tab for my live account remains always at 0. You understand well: they are never populated. Disconnect / reconnect changes nothing.

This morning after the reconnection, all the columns are 0, even 'UnrealizedPnL'. As I have currently one opened position opened from an ATM last week, this column is obviously wrong. But the position is still managed correctly by the ATM: entry price is ok, stop loss / target are what they were when disconnecting saturday. So NT handles correctly opened position from the ATM but does not know how to display / recognize my live account.

NT is connected to my live account (via the gateway) almost 24h/24h from sunday night to saturday morning.

All servers at http://www.interactivebrokers.com/cgi-bin/conn_test.pl are reached.

I really wonder what is wrong.

It seems that the information about your account is not reaching NinjaTrader for some reason.

Can you confirm that both NinjaTrader and Gateway have been added to any virus protection/firewall program's 'exceptions' list to ensure the connection is not being interfered with? If not, please do so now.

As a test, would it be possible to connect via TWS to see if the behavior is the same/different?

You can download TWS 960.2g from the connection guide:

Once TWS is installed, disconnect from Interactive Brokers, shut down Gateway, open TWS, and connect to Interactive Brokers. Let me know if the issue persists.

The antivirus (Bitdefender) has probably no responsibility. I have already specifyied that NT and IB gateway/tws network traffics are allowed. In the log nothing has been bloked for the last 30 days.

Using TWS instead of the gateway gives exactly the same outcome. In the Account tab, almost all columns are 0. In the Position tab, all columns gives the right information about the currently opened position.

              Here is the configuration :
              - tws 960.2g (Nov 21, 2016)
              - connection 'TWS' on NT:
              client id 0
              host 127.0.0.1
              port TWS 7496

I believe the issue should be something related to NT, but specifically with the live account. As mentionned in my 1st message, with the IB Paper Trading account, it almost works as expected. The Account tab's columns are populated, but the currency is wrong (dollars instead of euros).

The only platform item which would turn on/off the ability for live/paper account information to be requested by the platform would be your license key. A simulation license key would allow you to connect to that account, but no account information would be requested and therefore no values would appear in the accounts tab.

I think I may have misunderstood what your screenshot of the accounts tab represented. Can you clarify - are the two accounts you've blocked out your live/paper accounts, and the two accounts left visible simulation accounts you created within NinjaTrader?

Within the Control Center > Help > License Key, what are the first four characters of your license key? If they are '@SIM', then you are using a simulation license key. Please do not share your entire license key on the forums. You'll need to enter a live license key into NinjaTrader to view live/paper account information.

If you're using any key that does not start with '@SIM', I'd like for you to write into PlatformSupport[AT]NinjaTrader[DOT]com with a link to this forum thread and '1925458 ATTN Patrick G' in the body so I may investigate further.

I have the same issue, but with my paper trading account. Everything else seems to update fine, but not the Account values. Only the realized/total PnL is updating.
Is there any update on what may be causing this?

                    Hello regular_guy,

As a first troubleshooting step, we always need to be sure that we are using the version of TWS and IB Gateway that we provide in our Connection Guides. You can see post #6 for a link to the current connection guide and get the versions of TWS or IB Gateway that we recommend. (Currently TWS 985.1g and IB Gateway 981.3c)

The link my colleague Patrick provided in post #4 shows what Account Items would be supported with Interactive Brokers.

We have had a report about Initial Margin and Intraday Margin being missing and that matter is awaiting Development review in the internal ticket NTEIGHT-14887.

I recorded a GIF showing a test with TWS 985.1g and the current build of NinjaTrader (Release 24.3)

If you are getting different results than me, you can check the current version of NinjaTrader from the Help > About menu of the Control Center, and you can download new versions of NinjaTrader below. We should expect that using the same versions of TWS and/or IB Gateway from our Connection Guide with the current build of NinjaTrader will have these same results.

Hey NinjaTrader_Jim, thank you for your quick reply. I am indeed using the specified software - IB Gateway 981.3c . I followed the instructions closely. Also, I just updated my NT from the older version to the newest one, but still see the same.

Could it have something to do with the account currency, right now my Demo account at IB is in EUR?

                        Hello regular_guy,

I'm seeing the same behavior in the GIF from my last post when connecting to IB Gateway 981.3c.

Please try changing the denomination so it matches the account in NinjaTrader, and then disconnect and reconnect (fully closing IB Gateway for good measure.)

You can right click on the Account in the NinjaTrader Control Center and select Edit Account to change the denomination.

Let me know if you are still unable to see the account cash value after doing so.

Yes, changing the denomination of the account in NT to match that of IB (EUR) did the trick. I now see the Cash value and Net liquidation value etc. fields.

Now only the margin columns are missing. They are all 0. I read above that your technical team is working on that and hope that they will be able to resolve it soon.

                          Thanks Jim!
