    Are stops stored server side?

    Hello support,
If I am in a trade with ATM strategy running and my computer crashes or internet goes down, does my stop and target exist on server side or is it all stored locally?
    Thanks.

    Hello Grantx,

Once orders receive an 'Accepted' or 'Working' status, they reside at the exchange or at the broker servers. If NinjaTrader is shut down or disconnected, orders still execute as per market dynamics. You can view the order status in the Control Center-->Orders-tab, State column. More information can be found at the link below.
Note: This information is relevant for NinjaTrader 7 only. For NinjaTrader 8, please click here (https://ninjatrader.com/support/helpGuides/nt8/where_do_your_orders_reside_.htm). CQG Orders in a state "Accepted" or "Working" are at the exchange. If the exchange does not support a specific order type, the

Please note that OCO functionality resides in NinjaTrader for most broker technologies (except NinjaTrader Continuum/CQG, Interactive Brokers and TD Ameritrade). If you have an OCO order set (stop loss and profit target) active and you lose connection or NinjaTrader is shut down. Subsequently one of the OCO orders fills at the exchange, it will not cancel the other OCO order. NinjaTrader needs to be running and connected to send the order cancellation request.

The same applies when you have an entry order active, which was submitted with an ATM strategy atttached. If you are disconnnected and the entry order executes thereafter, no ATM orders will be sent since NinjaTrader is not connected.

Thank you. Just to clarify, once my order has been 'accepted' or is 'working', my target and stop exist on server side.

I am trading ES with Ninjatrader Brokerage and Continuum. OCO target and stop orders.

If Ninjatrader or my PC disconnects. When one of the orders will be executed, the other will be cancelled by continuum?

          Thanks.

            Hello pablorey,

This depends on the order state of your profit target and stop loss orders, if they have reached the exchange then the answer to your question is yes. If not, then no.

Most OCO (One Cancels Other) functionality is natively supported on their servers, but please see the disclaimer section located at the bottom of the connection guide for NinjaTrader Continuum for more information:

            https://ninjatrader.com/ConnectionGu...nnection-Guide

Please let me know if I may be of any further assistance.

              Hi,

As I'm learning more about order flow and the order book these days, I'm curious if stop orders are shown anywhere?

If they reside at the exchange - is there some kind of book which displays them...? Is this a private book or who can watch it?

The way I understand the public order book, stop orders can't be shown there as they're basically market orders waiting to be activated (if the designated price is hit) and NOT limit orders.

Thanks in advance for any further information/clarification on this.

              Johnny

Orders in a state "Accepted" or "Working" are at the exchange. If the exchange does not support a specific order type, the order will be active on the CQG servers:

Therefore, for CQG based connections, all order types other than MIT and Simulated Stop orders would be visible in the 'order book' data.

                  Hi,

I understand that the order resides at the exchange, but certainly it can't be in the order book as the order book basically contains only limit orders unless I have completely misunderstood basic market mechanics?

                  See attached sample picture.

                  1. I'm short at 2937.

                  2. Buy stop entered at 2940 for protection.

If price trades at 2940, I'm basically sending instructions to liquidate 1 contract at market, i.e., buy at the offer.

But until that happens, it can't be in the central limit order book as an order to buy the market at a higher price than the current inside bid/offer would immediately cross with the current inside bid/offer (36,75/37,00).

A stop limit order should be no different. The only difference being the requirement of a certain price (a limit order) for execution.

So, does there exist some kind of other order book where stop orders reside?

Thanks in advance for any clarifications.

You're correct - I was mistaken in my original reply. Only limit orders will display in Level II data. There is no setting within NinjaTrader that would include other order types in the market depth information.

                      Thanks, Patrick.

So, stop orders do not reside at the central limit order book at the exchange, but they do reside at the exchange, yes?

If so, do you know where?

I'm curious if the CME has an additional order book which is not known to the public where such orders are placed/stored...

Correct - they reside at the exchange, however, are not available via Level II data. I am not certain, but this may be available in Level III data. I am not familiar with any supported data provider that supplies Level III data, so you may want to reach out to your current data provider to learn more.
