    Backtesting from a restored backup

I backed-up and restored all possible items using the NT8 "Backup file".

The restored data was placed on a new computer with a fresh install of NT8 8.0.9.0.

I have compared backtests from the original machine using the same data, workspaces, dates, etc. The results do not match. I used to get backtest results for 50 different stocks out of 200, now I see backtest results for 2.

Is this a database problem? What can I do to remedy this so my results match on both the new and old machines?

    Hello ArmKnuckle,

    Thank you for your post.

Glad to assist. So I may be of better assistance, can you please tell me the following?

Do you see results when running the same test on the SampleMaCrossOver strategy in NinjaTrader with the same settings as your strategy?

Who are you connected to? This is displayed in green on lower left corner of the Control Center window.

Are you connected to your data feed provider when running this test?

What instrument(s) (and expiry if applicable) have you selected?

What Data Series Type have you selected? Example: Tick, Minute, Day

What From and To date is selected?

Is your strategy a multi instrument or multi time frame strategy?

Do you receive an error on screen? Are there errors on the Log tab of the Control Center? If so, what do these errors report?

We look forward to assisting further.

Here are the answers to your questions:

I do see results when running the same test on the SampleMaCrossOver strategy. (Results in line with what is expected for the backtest time period.)

I am not online/not connected to data. Backtesting is being conducted on previously downloaded data from the hard drive.

I am not connected to my data feed provider when running this test.

I have a list of 200 stocks that vary every trading day. The time period for backtesting has the duration of 4 days. For example, if the backtest "End Date" was Thursday the 14th, the backtest "Start Date" would be Monday the 11th. The code is written that I only see trading results that appear on the "End Date".

Data Series selected: Last, Minute, 3.

From and To selected: 10/05/2017 to 10/10/2017.

My strategy is a multi time frame strategy. (3, 6, and 15 minute)

I did not receive an error on screen. There are no errors on the Log tab of the Control Center.

This problem is not just for this one backtest above. I have backtested different stock lists successfully with this strategy every trading day for the past 18 months.

          People of Earth!

When restoring from a "Backup file", make sure to confirm your TIME ZONE! (It's not part of the transferred settings.)

It fixed my problem. It could fix yours, too.
