    Do you have an answer for my last paragraph beginning with, "Second similar problem is with MA..." in post number 1?

      Not a problem. I have mentioned this all to QA and you will not be able to force garbage collection in any capacity for these items, even the MA. This is the answer provided to me so that is as much detail as I am able to offer.

        MA does release resources when I close the MA window or workspace, as expected.


        My question is why does it take MA the same amount of time to release resources as it does for it to build the MA. For example, from the moment I add a list of instrument to the time MA is completely done all calculations, it takes 30 minutes. Then when I exit MA or workspace, it takes another 30 minutes before NT is available again. During that time NT is in "Not responding" mode most of the time with brief periods of availability.



        Is there a bug?





        Just trying to help NT8 become more stable.

          Thank you for your response.

          That is not behavior I would expect. I would like to investigate this particular item further with you if possible.

          Please send me your log and trace files so that I may look into what occurred. You can do this by going to the Control Center-> Help-> Email Support Ensuring 'Log and Trace Files' is checked will include these files. This is checked by default. Please list 'ATTN: Patrick H' in the subject line and reference this thread in the body of the email.

          I look forward to assisting you further.

            Hello sajosh,

            We did not receive your log and trace files.

            Please follow the steps below to manually attach your log and trace files to an email to platformsupport[at]ninjatrader[dot]com with 'ATTN: Patrick H' in the subject and a reference to this thread in the body of the email.
            • Open your NinjaTrader folder under My Documents.
            • Right click on the 'log' and 'trace' folders and select Send To> Compressed (zipped) Folder.
            • Send the 2 compressed folders as attachments to your email.
            • Once complete, you can delete these compressed folders.

              You should be able to reproduce this on a clean NT8.15.1 by



              Opening MA,
              Add many many complicated indicators
              Add hundreds of stocks (Record the start time once stocks are added)

              With the right additions above, MA should run for 30 minutes to process everything
              Watch Task Manger to see NT's CPU usage go to < 1% that means MA is finished
              Record the time it took
              Now close MA or Workspace
              Record the closing time

              Watch Task Manager NT CPU go above 80% for the same amount of time
              Once NT CPU is below 1% then record time it took

              You'll also notice NT is "Not responding" until MA resources are completely freed




              I'm trying to create a new one for you but just haven't had the time so in the mean time perhaps you can create it.
