new computer

Hi
My old computer motherboard that I ran ninja trader on got hit and stop working but the hard drive still works. I didnt back up ninja trader before this happen but I still have access to the previous hard drive via a adopter. I now have a new computer and would like to restore my setting from my previous computer. I would like to know how can I restore my previous settings in this situation.

trader413, on the old harddrive secure the Documents > NinjaTrader 7 folder in it's entirety if possible.

You can then copy subfolders to your new install, for example the workspaces, database file (NinjaTrader.sdf) or the cs files contained in the bin > custom > indicator / strategy folders.

Bertrand...on a related note...with a totally new pc box, trader413 (or any of us encountering a similar situation) does not have to be concerned with the new computer generating a new Machine ID? (meaning that a licensed use of NT will require a "reset" with the new Machine ID...)

Yes, the machine Id will be different. If you are using any 3rd party code which have licensing policy set to the machine id then you have to ask him for a new license.

so I should over write the new folders with the old ones correct? And can I just replace the entire bin folder instead of copying individual files ?

Yes, that should work - however I'd suggest making a backup copy of the original folders just in case.
