Improve ChartTrader button to work with 1 click

    Hi guys,
we started trading with NT8, and we found ChartTrader not practical, compared to NT7.
Problem is that displaying / hiding is very uncomfortable and as it is very common action during the day, so it is quite annoying.

It is slow, because it requires 3 actions:
    1. location of the ChartTrader button (among other buttons),
    2. then first mouse click to open actions
    3. then precise movement of mouse to locate right option and click again

Compared to NT7 (1 quick action), it is very uncomfortable to do 3 actions.
This action needs to be handled better, because it is so frequently used during trading on charts. We always hide chart-trader to prevent mistaken clicks and open it back.

We need better solution - some alternative, that could be executed much more quickly and comfortably. Something doable with 1-quick-action - or max 2 actions in worst case scenario.

    Best regards
    misova

    Hello misova,

    Thank you for your post,

I suggest setting up a Hotkey to control enabling or disabling chart trader. This can be done via Tools > Hot Keys > Chart > Actions > "Show Chart Trader."

See the below section of our help guide for more on using hot keys.

The solution in NT7 is better....you want to be able to turn Chart Trader off easily also...is there a hotkey for that ??....if so, this would be burning up 2 hot keys for on & off...the solution in 7 is better.....

edit....I take it back !! ...the show Chart Trader hot key works to turn on and off....maybe the hot key should be labeled show / hide chart trader ??....(had not tried before)....still kind of like the 7 solution tho....

      .....thanks....

        Hello Alfred,

        Thank you for your reply,

This same hotkey will allow you to both enable or disable Chart Trader, only one hot key will need to be used.

Current show/hide functionality with hotkey is still not ideal. I want to be able to:
          1. press hotkey and Chart Trader shows up
          2. choose ATM strategy
          3. place LMT order
          4. press hotkey and Chart Trader hides BUT order stay visible on chart - because one has to see the trade and orders.

          Currently it is like:
          4. press hotkey and Chart Trader hides AND order hides from chart

Therefore I cannot modify price of the order simply from the chart as well as OCO orders attached to it after entry gets filled. I want to hide Chart trader so I do not accidentaly click on Sell MKT (or similar button) but still be able to see my entry order on chart.

I agree with misova's analysis on this....the Chart Trader solution in NT7 remains better....

If you open chart trader with a hot key....then place an order....then close chart trader with the hot key....the order is then invisible....but if you then click with the hot key to open chart trader again, your order then shows again....seems like an order could be accidentally filled when it is not showing on the screen when Chart Trader is closed with a hot key....as the order still appears in Account Data when Chart Trader is closed with the hotkey.......

            Thanks...

Maybe change the Chart Trader hot key to an on or off key to show Chart Trader as hidden or not hidden....??

The Chart Trader icon drop down menu works quite well.....but maybe a better hot key result would add some useful value....??

                ..........

                    Chart trader buttons

It has been over eight months since I suggested fixing the action buttons in the chart trader. They are too damn small (not boxy like nt7) and no open space above the buttons. What where you thinking? Surely not much actual trading.. Not SIZE customizable!! I am still in NT7 because of this MESS!
