    Hello,

An exit order to act as a profit target could be added however it could not be linked to the existing Stop Loss order with OCO. As a result, you would need to manually cancel the remaining order when one of the protective orders is filled.

I know this is an old post, but I'm sure you're still around. I did this last night on an already open position where I forgot to use my ATM strategy.

I was long on GC 04-18 and I used the exact method in the video to place a stop below it about 20 ticks. I log in this morning and GC was well below that, and my stop line was still on the chart well above it....so my open position was down 40 ticks. It's a demo right now, so no big deal. I have full license and using NT7 at the moment.

Any ideas? Maybe this isn't the way to do it anymore?

        Hello,

        Thanks for posting.

Was this a sim, or a live trade?

Simulation trades are held locally on your PC, so if NinjaTrader is not running and connected, trades will not execute, so the behavior you experienced would be expected.

With live orders, stop orders are held at your exchange/broker so they would still be active if NinjaTrader is shut down. However, any custom stop strategies (auto break-even, auto trail) would not function if NT was disconnected.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

I'm using the demo continuum feed.

I actually just did it again, and put a buy stop under a short position and it closed when hit...so the first one must've been a fluke. I appreciate the quick reply.

            Hello,

            Thanks for the note.

This would be expected with simulation trading, as any disconnections will result in your orders not being filled. NinjaTrader can only fill simulation orders when open and connected to a data feed.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Excellent. That makes sense. So, with live trading it WOULD HAVE gotten stopped, correct? Again, much appreciated.

                Hello,

This is correct, as the order would have been at the exchange/broker.
