    Weekly-Daily / Daily-Minute charts not the same

When opening a Weekly chart, I would expect a 5-Day Chart to show the same but it does not. Same when I open a 1-Day Chart, I would expect a 1440Minute chart to show the same, still it doesn't.

Could you explain why that is so?

    Hello sandman,

Thank you for posting in our forum.

NinjaTrader treats a week as a Sunday through Saturday block of time, and the day-based charts will plot without regard to the day of the week. This explains the difference in a weekly chart versus a 5 or 7 day chart. For example, if you were to plot a weekly chart next to a 5 day chart, both with 60 days of data loaded, you would see that the first two bars are identical, but beyond that there is a divergence in the candles. This is due to the days being grouped together differently.

Additionally, in NinjaTrader 7 the daily charts are based on the RTH session, whereas a 1440 minute chart will also reflect ETH data. This explains the difference between a one day chart and a 1440 minute chart.

Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

        Hello td_910,

        Thank you for your post.

In order to have minute bars larger than 1440 you will need to create a custom session template that lasts from Sunday to Saturday. Please create a session template which starts on Sunday at 12AM, and ends on Saturday at 11:59 PM. Use this on the minute based weekly chart.

Below I have included the Help Guide section on creating custom session templates:

Additionally, please use a 10,080 minute chart, which is 1440x7. This will ensure all trading activity is displayed on your chart.

Please let me know if you have any other questions regarding this.
