NT 8 vs 7 Forex question

Sorry for the lame question:
I use both NT 7 and NT 8, and I'm just now figuring out that the two programs appear to treat Forex symbols differently: in NT 7, you have to put a "$" in front of the name of the Forex pair: for example, $EURUSD. If you do that in NT 8, you get an error message and you have to eliminate the dollar sign.
So, what gives? Did Ninjatrader just decide to change the symbol, or is there something else going on?

I can confirm this would be expected, but I would not be able to comment on why this was changed in NinjaTrader 8. I'm happy to find any further information available on this topic and follow up here by updating this tread.

Yeah, please post back if there's anything more profound than just a symbol change. Curious why this happened, and if it signifies anything fundamental about the mechanics or parameters of actually trading Forex pairs.

I can confirm that this was simply a symbol change on our end to make it faster and/or easier to switch to and between Forex instruments.

Thanks, Drew. No biggie, but the nice part of having the $ there was that it kept all your Forex symbols at the top of the list of markets you look at, all nice and tidy in one place. Now, my list has AUDUSD next to Bitcoin, GBPUSD next to GC, Nat Gas followed by NZDUSD, Silver followed by USDCAD and USDJPY with ZN at the end. Crazy mixed up list--the old way was better IMHO, but again, not a huge deal.
