Recommended virtual machines for running NT7

    Hi All

I'm planning to run NT7 on Windows7 inside a virtual machine on my linux workstation.

Looking around this forum it seems there are a lot of people doing that successfully for NT7, although with NT8, the situation hasn't stabilised yet. I'm not looking to push the envelope, so I figure I'll stick with NT7 and Windows 7.

I just read a "5 of the best" virtual machines article on lifewire: https://www.lifewire.com/best-virtua...ftware-4147437

    What does everybody recommend?

    • Oracle Virtualbox
    • VMware Workstation
    • QEMU
    • Amazon, Google or Microsoft cloud

VirtualBox or the free VMware solution.

      Thanks.

Do you run Windows in a VM with a docking station and DisplayLink to run two screens?

      Does it work?

Sorry, I cannot help there, as I do not own such hardware.

I run Virtualbox with two screens configured. I'm running with a Windows host, but the Virtualbox instance of Windows is able to support multiple monitors. I would expect this configuration should work with a Linux host as well.
