Resume after sleep chart error "Upgradeable lock may not be acquired..."

Hi! I'm getting some errors consistently after resuming the computer from sleep and reconnecting. I know which chart it is but I wish the error would indicate the context such as instrument/timeframe/indicator name(s) anyway if possible.

A dialog appears showing "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." then one of the charts stops working.

Since the chart works fine for hours after a fresh startup, would you have any ideas what is it about either re-connecting or resuming from sleep that would cause such an issue? I always disconnect before I put it it in sleep.

Hello crokusek,

Please send an email to platformsupport [at] ninjatrader [dot] com with your log and trace files included as an attachment to the email, so I may investigate this matter further.

• Open your NinjaTrader folder under Documents.
• Right click on the 'log' and 'trace' folders and select Send To> Compressed (zipped) Folder.
• Send the 2 compressed folders as attachments to this email.
• Once complete, you can delete these compressed folders.

Put 'Att Shawn', in the subject field and enable 'Log and trace files'. Also, give a reference of this thread in the body of the email.

I have never found Sleep mode to be reliable when using NT7 or 8. I will usually end up with some kind of error, missing chart data or whatever.

Should this be a reliable mode of operation, or is it recommended to not use it?

I am using Windows 10

Hi Shawn,

After a few hours of debugging, I have luckily managed to isolate the issue by adding a small delay (sleep) to a built-in indicator SMA. Renamed to SMA_Test and it was included in the attachment to platform support as requested.

Please start NT8, then open workspace BugTest9. Wait a bit for it to load completely, then connect to NT Continuum. Requires Tick and Trin indicies. Should not require computer to sleep to see the bug.

Please let me know if you need anything else and how it goes.

Hi Shawn,

For the test case and workspace (BugTest9) I sent to your attention, there is no need to sleep to see the bug. You should be able to follow the instructions of my previous using the SMA_Test indicator and the workspace I sent.

It was quite tricky to locate the issue so I hope you can find some time to try it.
